I Can't See How This Season Can Be Finished

The more you start to think about it.

The English have put a date on their return and we haven't. Say we follow suit with them and look to start back beginning of April after the international break, is that not when the virus is due to be at it's peak? We have been told we still have around 3 months of the virus and it hasn't even hit it's peak yet, so how can the players play in a few weeks when effectively it's going to be more dangerous than it is now?

Also, how are the players going to keep themselves fit when they won't be training everyday? They can't take a month off then be expected to come back and start playing games right away.

If we are talking 3-4 months of the virus still to spread etc before it starts to get better you are into June / July, even by postponing the Euros, there's not enough time to get games played, and then be ready to begin next season in time.

This is utterly mental and the more you start to think about it, the more you come to terms with the fact that the only option could be to scrap the whole season.

The club better be ready to fight this all the way because Celtic will be wanting awarded the title. They have already got their message out with Brown in the media this week.

Every league will try their best to complete the fixtures, there will be so many legal challenges otherwise as there’s so much money at stake, promotion/relegation/champions league places etc. But whatever happens there will be some noses out severely out of joint

[QUOTE="Bowery Boy, post: 5598711,

Hopefully UEFA (if they can) just declare all leagues null and void. It's really the only option.

Easiest and most sensible option. Chaos otherwise

In Scotland the season will be restarted BCD, with the players using bubble football gear to prevent any form of contact.
That or some other shennanigan will be concocted to ensure another * title is awarded to the paedophiles.

''If the season ends now, we'd be the champions and rightly so. We're over 30 games into the season, they're not going to take that away from us''. Neil Lennon at his press conference today.

The war has started guys.
Why stupid people shouldn’t be allowed to talk in public. What with him and that other thick %^*& last night.

The mind of tims around the world is always the victim

As someone pointed out, if we won the two remaining old firm games and our game in hand, the gap would be four points. I just don’t see how the title can possibly be awarded to anyone unless it is mathematically over.

There is no way they would allow us to walk away with the title if roles were reversed. Also, they started all this “sporting integrity” guff years ago. You reap what you sow.

As for Euro qualification - quite simple - you base it on the previous year. That is on the basis that season 19/20 was abandoned due to unforeseen circumstances.

Jog on treacle teeth- we’ve nearly a quarter of our games still to play.

This season should be null and void.
If they want 9 in a row they will need to win it next season.

Liverpool are streets ahead and just two wins away from the title. Leeds are on the brink of being back in the EPL for the first time in 16 years. Just two examples of clubs who will not accept the season being declared null and void.

Not what I want to happen but from the wording of the SPFL rules it looks like they could award a winner of each Scottish league but not promote or relegate anybody in the event of abandoning the league. The relegation clause has wording to say following completion of all matches. The champion club only needs to occupy position one at the end of the season. With that wording they could be awarded the title on a technicality if "the end of the season" is determined to be now.

  1. The Club occupying position one in the League at the end of a Season shall be declared the Champion Club of the League

  1. At the end of each Season (following completion of all League Matches in the Premiership in that Season) the Club in position 12 in the Premiership shall be relegated to play and be eligible to participate in the Championship for and during the next Season.
Different models are showing a different peak for this. But the two that have been displayed on the news shows April/May or May/June as the peak. No way this is going to kick back off. The football leagues have went above and beyond government advice. Government advice will get more restrictive in the coming months.

shit happens and there's things more important in life. The league should be abandoned and restart afresh in July.

Absolutely, but there are others who will be desperate for it not to be played out. No matter what happens this is going to end up in court.......many times.

Where do you draw the line? Barca are 2 points ahead of Real, can you imagine if the current leaders of the league were given the title?! There is no way you can be crowned champions unless mathematically champions.

As long as its not ours. ;)

Let them legally challenge it. It will just make them look like utter c*nts when we are in the midst of the most serious global health crisis in 100 years.

you'd think with the child abuse cases hanging over them the mentally challenged would be quiet about things

Not when it's reasonably tight. Liverpool for instance, wouldn't have an issue with them being crowned champs and I am sure Pep Guardiola would be the same. He's already conceded the title to them.

With us? Absolutely no way when we can get it down to 4 points with 5 games or so still to play.

If they accept the leaders, then they have to accept those at the bottom of the table which can't happen. There is far too much on the line for teams going up or down for it to be accepted.

So easy to say that as supporters of a team in our position thought isn't it whose season is all but over anyway.

If people could put their utter obsession with the scum's run of titles to one side for a minute, they'd see how unfair declaring the season null and void would be.

How is it unfair? The league isn't over and there are plenty of points to play for.

Now, if the EPL is cancelled I feel sorry for Liverpool but you can't award someone a title that they haven't won.

If we meekly accept them taking the title I won't be back at Ibrox.

You and me both it would be the ultimate surrender from the Rangers Board, hopefully someone will grow a set and fight this all the way.

UEFA will make the decision on this after their meeting on Tuesday. They will employ a blanket ruling to every member federation. They will play it safe, sort out the financial implications and void football for season 2019/20

This crisis is not going to disappear quickly enough to allow the season to be completed
