A team of journeymen

We are a club that has cobbled together a team full of journeymen and also rans. We big them up as if they are world beaters when they beat the dross, and we have the highest wage bill in the country with barely a thing to show for it.

The core of this side just do not have the mentality to be at a club like Rangers, it's been proven time and again.

We have a squad of players who think they are doing a good job by going onto the pitch and going through the motions for 90 minutes, passing the ball along to the guy beside them. Not a single one of them has the ability, skill, attitude, or mentality to take the ball and try to make something happen when things aren't going our way.

Where do we go from here? In my opinion we let every single out of contract player leave the club and sell whoever we can (hopefully get money back on Lammers and Dessers), cash in on Butland, pay part of Goldsons wages to get a club to take him, take whatever we can get for the likes of Tav/Matondo/Lawrence/Cantwell, and start with as clean a slate as we possibly can. Trim as much fat as we can, take the savings in wages and any money we get and invest in some solid players for the key areas, and run a tight ship with a smaller squad, but with quality instead of garbage.

The whole Scottish League are full of teams if journeymen, we should have had enough to beat Motherwell, Ross County and Dundee … it’s not that they are average players … they are not mentally strong and don’t fight like a team of winners
