Anybody been watching this? A series of five on the history ch. which is doing a history of football for a couple of wks on the run up to the World Cup. The Football Godfathers is covering the careers of Houllier, Hodgson, Van Gaal, Sven Goran Erikksen & the one I caught on Claudio Ranieri . Ranieri himself had some career managing at the highest level in Spain, Italy, England & now France. Also had a go at international football with Greece.
He comes across as a really likeable guy in the interview with shreeves off sky sports. Got sacked a few times, & nearly reached the pinnacle with the likes of Valencia, Chelsea, Juve’ & Napoli & then getting there with Leicester City.
The way he was treated at some clubs was shocking, esp Athletico Madrid under Jesus Gil, but all along Ranieri never holds a grudge against any of them, inc Leicester, where after winning the title, he gets the bump the following season.
Definitely worth a watch, & will try to catch up on the others.
