Helander over Katic

The pitch is shite but Helander and Goldson have been awful tonight in several aspects. Both have been bullied all night, both have barely won a header, both have been caught under the ball when challenging for headers, both have looked shocking in terms of positioning.
 
Obviously everything was all dandy tonight because we kept a clean sheet so no issues at all. And Gerrard won the CL so clearly he can’t make any errors of judgement.

Imagine Katic had played like either of them tonight. Helander was lucky he even completed the game.
 
5 starts and 5 clean sheets for Helander so far.

Thought the back 4 struggled at times, but other than that 20 minute spell they never really troubled us. We coped well after that.
 
The defence looked shite tonight, shaky as fk. Katic must play against the sheep shagging scum.

The defence IMO has been poor all season, with or without Katić

Clean sheets and wins don't tell the whole story.

Goldson and Helander are lucky they aren't Katić or one would be dropped after tonight.

Yeah we’ve had some dodgy showings. Just a shame the best one of them had to be hooked. That was utter shite again, the excuses should be interesting.
 
I like big Helander!

This thread has turned odd and gone from a which one is best to an attempt to prove which one is worse!

We have 2 young CH’s is Katic and Edmundson and 2 more experienced in Goldson and Helander!

I think it’s great for the club!!

Said it on post 4 of this thread. We still haven't conceded a goal with Helander on the pitch and already he's getting it tight from all angles.

He wasn't great tonight but some people just cannot wait to get stuck in.

A plastic pitch doesn't stop someone from getting bullied and winners headers ffs. Also if that's the case then we're in for a shock because a quarter of the league have plastic surfaces so have we just to give everyone a pass anytime we play on them?

One thing looks certain, Katic would absolutely ragdoll Goldson and Helander together. Both looked pathetically weak tonight.

If Gerrard persists with those two it's only a matter of time before it costs us big time.

Criticism is allowed, especially when our best defender so far this season was bombed out the squad completely then Goldson (and now Helander) have had a nightmare yet they'll be bullet proof. Goldson has had more bad games than good lately.

Is it as simple as saying as it's a struggle to turn when a high ball is played quickly forward on plastic?
The Livi players seem to lose their footing often as well, they need banned especially pitches as bad as that one tonight
 
We paid a lot of money we can ill afford to lose for Helander so I’m hoping he’s going to come good but that was a horrendous performance against that level of opposition.

I agree Goldson along with him were horrendous but Goldson has been average at best all season, what must Katic be thinking watching the state of those two tonight.
 
The gaffer played Helander against Feyenoord saying that Katic is a warrior but in the game he thought that the game would suit Helander more.
Tonight we knew it would be tough to front so why wasn't Katic put back into the team for a battle ?

You can't make excuses for failing to win high balls, taking swipes at balls and shanking them, miss judging headers, getting caught out by a simple pass, looking shaky, uncomfortable and making basic errors.

Goldson has been making them all season, Helander tonight has had a mare.

We will see who starts against Aberdeen. Big call for Gerrard. I'd rather Katić vs. Cosgrove.

Tavernier equally as weak in defence, Arfield poor again and Kamara barely kicked a ball all season.

Katic might end up coming back and looking low on confidence after the same thing happened last season. It must be really deflation to be dropped and have to watch that.
 
Big hellander was honking tonight.
Still not going to right a player off on a plastic pitch far better players than hellander have struggled on that ridiculous turf
