Rangers Women 14-0 Glasgow Women

This is what makes the womens game look amateurish. I’ve said this on here before, and the better half was an Internationalist, the goals should be smaller, Women Goalkeepers are not physically as adapt as men. I don’t mean massive smaller sizes, just tweak them so it makes it more of a competition. I’ve said that if you want to make money in the Womens game go all out to be the fittest Goalkeeper you can be. I’ve only seen one FM goalkeeper that could come up to the standard of a Male, and that was a USA girl who I think is retired now

Hope Solo? Who was about 5’11 I think.

I have said for a long time smaller goals should come in, and contrary to what some in the women’s game think it wouldn’t be detrimental. It would make it a better spectacle because there would be more impressive saves made more often.

Are we building new pitches and stadiums around the place for women teams? The real difference is the 100 years of specialised goalkeeping coaching. If anything, current goals are too small for a modern goalkeeper given they were created when men were on average a lot smaller

Some of the defending, goalkeeping and general play was abysmal..

But nevertheless some nice play. The number 23 has got a good passing game I think she'll do well

The goals shouldn't be smaller. Less goals make games less entertaining.

Could be argued that men's goals should be made bigger given the average heights which have increased over the last 100 years and it'd lessen the number of borefest 0-0 draws and single goal wins.

Yesterday's result wasn't down to the height of the goalie. It was two totally mismatched teams. That's not a criticism or Rangers of even Glasgow Ladies. There's just a massive gulf in teams just now as the professional side of it is starting out and Rangers, clearly, have a massive advantage over anyone outwith a couple of other teams in the division...and even then Glasgow City, don't have our resources.

Feel sorry for Glasgow Women. Amateur team, first game since promotion and put against the champions.

The more teams we can get professional the better. Hibs and Hearts ideal candidates to make the step from semi-pro. This kind of result helps nobody really.

Real problem for the women's game if there are many results like this
Contrary to above I don't think more goals = more entertainment
Sure 5-5 is more entertaining than 1 - 1 but 14 - 0 is not better than a 3 - 2 game
There has to be jeopardy - a chance of both teams winning for any sport to be entertaining
If it's likely one team will get into double figures not many will turn up to watch
Likewise, for the players on the losing side there is no fun in that and the women's game is not lucrative enough to prevent the players walking away or maybe dropping a level or two so they can enjoy it

These kind of scores are inevitable as the game gets more professional. Anyone coming up from the lower leagues is obviously going to get leathered. It'll take time for other teams to get up to speed but, like the league, we'll still always be head & shoulders above the rest due to resources, i.e. full time players, facilities etc.

Its the mismatch in teams in the league. There wasn't too many high scores in the womens euros. The height the womens players is probably on a par with the men before say the sixties. Finding a tall athletic woman for goalie would make a difference.

Play 30 minute halves like they do in tennis

Fair comment but it did help the RWFC out with goals for and Sellick women beat Hibs women 6-0 yesterday. You can only play what's in front of you it's leading curve for all teams, win, lose or draw.

She’s only turned 17 in April. I know the opposition weren’t great but she looks some talent.
Yeah that is one of our home grown players Kirsty MacLean she had a terrific game .

Few others who are doing great too .

That’s the best indicator of the club doing the right things re Developing players .

Watched some of the goal highlights the other day, and honestly couldn't watch them all.

I genuinely got bored, the level of competition they were up against was bloody shocking.

Think the first three goals is their defenders and keeper fucking up and bumbling the ball into their own net.

The highlights on RTV came up on my YouTube suggestions last night so I watched it when I saw the score.

It reminded me of a U14’s team I trained with from Bathgate years ago.

A new team and they got scudded 20-0 in the first game.

The next game wasn’t much better. I then quickly realised that it was very cliquey and me not being from Bathgate meant I was never getting a game. I left them to get on with it as they were utter pish.

Can’t imagine it’s a great feeling to be on the receiving end of a 14 0 defeat,Honestly hope it doesn’t put them off and they dig in and improve,Can’t really get any worse.

I would be fully behind smaller goals. Smaller ball and smaller pitch too. The average size, speed, strength, etc is just below that of a man, at elite sports level that gap is only exaggerated.

If you increased the size of the pitch and goals in the men's game it would see a less competitive game with it suiting the better, faster, stronger team. Many woman are as technically gifted as their male counterparts but you'd never know it watching the games.

bs

It is though.

Different sized goals for the woman's games means that no existing pitch lay out works and there's not the money in the game, yet, to provide a completely separate setup.

The old trope about woman's keepers is also long outdated. There have been huge improvements in standards as the game progresses. They're maybe smaller than the men but it's not like every shot going in is a result of someone being chipped.

The gulf in class due to the professional levels Rangers can reach compared to other teams in the league is the difference here.

The game needs time to develop and for more teams to become professional with more income in the game. Teams will find their levels just as happened in the mens game.

I can definitely agree with your last paragraph mate.

I’m a supporter of the womens game I just find it frustrating when people bemoan the goalkeeping, and at times it does feel like goals are just too tall.

The shape, or should I say out of shape of many of the Glasgow Ladies side make it very difficult for me to take this too seriously I'm afraid.

Great Score
But the standard of Opposition was Rid Rotten
My Nephews 2007 would spank them

I'm with you on this. Much as l love to see a Rangers victory of any sort, I couldn't help but feel sorry for Glasgow Women. I hope they'll get over it and keep playing.

Great performance from the Rangers women.

You can only play the opponents in front of you.

In addition to the technique, I was impressed at the strength and conditioning of the Rangers women. They all looked strong and fit.
