Who is our best outfield player?

The fact there aren’t many to choose from is its own story.

Jack was my favourite but injuries have taken there toll.

Think its a shame we have to name defenders instead of midfielders or forwards, but yes, Tav, and i’ll prob get shot down for this, Borna. He’s the best left back in Scottish football. And before you all get excited, im very critical of him, but under PC he looks rejuvinated.
Poor at sheepville

In his proper position and on it . Then Cantwell by a distance. Tav dependable on penalties, not much else .
Lundstram has been our consistently best performer this season.

Aye. It wasnae too disimilar in the early 80's but ah sense a real deflation and its the transfer window and Beales shocking lack of judgement blowin it thats ta blame. Yous tell me when was the last time we had 15 million ta spend. Are any of the attacking options better than Lawrence or Kemar when he's playing? Ah dont wannae talk about Alfredo goin on a freebie but its take its toll.

I still hold hopes that Ianis can fulfill his potential and remain injury free. At one stage he looked a 30 million pound player
When did Hagi ever look like a £30 million pound player, ffs.

Cantwell when he's on it is miles ahead the rest. However he's either being dragged down by the dross he's playing with or he's scunnered with being played out of position.
Cantwell has to knuckle down and obey managers instructions. He doesn’t realise how privileged he is. Or he just might soon if he gets punted in January.

An injury free Tom Lawrence would be our best outfield player. Great awareness of the game as it's happening.

I don’t think it’s the supporters mindset. I also said Tav and caveated that by saying I’d sell him if I could! That’s genuinely how bad we are. Our current 3 best players wouldn’t even be in the team if we had the quality the money we have spent should have given us.
The problem with what we can spend is there is not much difference in quality between the types of players We get they c will all have flaws 90% of the time.

You need to build a team that compensates for those flaws Gerrard did that we then needed quality to start to iron that out a little.

The problem is that we have recruited really badly on players that don't suit the team and we invested under gio and gave him less than a year they weren't really the players he wanted but we needed new players after seville

Beale the board were inept allowing Beale to sign the players he has with our a check ie a dof in place to question the signings Beale/ board have cost us millions.

That's part of what abouts me about the gio sacking he has to go but at end of season but he made us a fortune in el/cl/ bassey in comparison and we hooked him as an agm was coming up

This season it’s probably been lundstram, with tav and borna closely behind. The fact we are relying on these players to me is just mental. Tav is one of the few people in this squad who will step up when needed. Very few currently in this team do that, especially in the attacking phase of the pitch where there really is no outstanding players.

I think if Lawrence were to stay injury free and fit it could be him. Right now as many others have said, it's got to be Lundstram.

Clutching at straws with everyone of them
Not one of them is Rangers class
At a push on current form would be big John but depressing times

Cantwell and it’s not even close. Play him in his proper position and we’ll see his full potential.
If Roofe was ever able to stay fit, he’d be up there.
Tav and Goldson aren’t too far behind.
Im confident Raskin will be able to get there one day.

Has to be Davis
A fit Davis is miles in front of the rest
Alas he will probably never get back to a fitness level that we need to play

I stand by were it not for a perfect storm of injury crisis and back to back trouncings by the scum and Ajax - 2 games that on any other day wouldn’t have had the same results - Gio would still be in a job. He was a good manager and knew what he needed to do but after those games all confidence was gone. I don’t think sacking him was the wrong choice - as I say the confidence was gone and wasn’t coming back - but the way it went under him was so unlucky. With a better DoF that could have been managed and we should never have been in the place he was put.

All the 'Tav' replies are an indication of how far we have fallen. There is a new mindset amongst our supporters that second and mediocrity is ok. I find that hard to accept.
And yet you suggest no alternative?

Tav is a right back who has broken nearly all scoring records (not just "for a defender" - he's nearing Ally's European tally now! Next stop Fredo!) Whilst also being part in a record breaking defence.

Appreciating Tav is not accepting mediocrity. It is celebrating an individual player who has been sensational for us over the years and who has NEVER been the weak link in our team. Our lack of silverware has not been due to James Tavernier letting us down or not showing up. That nonsense should have been put to bed years ago.

Our greatest ever right back without question in my head. Had he been with us in the days of Walter or Dick he'd have made that right back position his own and our teams would have been stronger for it. Porrini, Whittaker, Ricksen (RIP but he was never at his best there) all couldn't hold a candle to Tabs output!

Two winners medals in 8 years.
