Why does every poor result get blamed on Tav?

Theres been a mid season collapse in this team ever since Gerrards first season

Theres a mentaility issue at the heart of this team that seems to affect every player that walks through the door

One things for certain, if PC starts Tav,Goldson and JL next season he will be out a job and we will be here lamenting another title for celtic

genuinely baffling.

How anyone could watch tonight and believe Tav is the problem is beyond me.

We had a woeful midfield 3 that Dundee walked through at times which happened at the weekend as well. Lundstram and Lawrence barely got beyond jogging pace tonight.

We have multiple forward players who struggle to create and stick the ball in the net. In January many felt we needed to sign a goalscorer and that’s now coming back to bite us on the arse.

Silva, Matondo are useless. Roofe is like an old cripple and Dessers is just woeful.

Goldson and Souttar are a bombscare partnership.

Tav has flaws, no arguments there. If he didn’t then he’d be playing at a far higher level.

But the amount of unfair criticism towards him is genuinely baffling.

“He goes hiding” - utter shite. No matter how bad he’s playing or the team is playing, he always shows for the ball and tries to drive us forward.

“He’s a bottle merchant” - utter shite. Lost count how many times he’s stepped up in pressure situations/moments in massive games to deliver an assist/free kick/goal. Hardly the signs of a bottler.

“he’s no a captain” - two world class players and captains in GVB and SG sung his praises as a captain and player but what do they know. All because he doesn’t scream and shout and grab teammates by the throat on the park.

He was our biggest contributor in reaching the Europa league final, top scorer in the competition scoring many pressure penalties including leading in the shootout with the first penalty. Almost won the thing had it not been for Ramsay.

Stepped up in the league cup final and regularly in the 55 season.

The trophy count since he’s been here hasn’t been good enough but it’s a collective team issue rather than a Tav issue. And the first few years he was here is hardly a stick to beat him with given the shite surrounding him and the circus we had in the dugout until Gerrard arrived.

If fans genuinely believe getting rid of Tav will result in our defence being solid and midfield/strikers making up Tav’s numbers and us winning everything in sight, it’s delusional IMO. And only when he leaves will we realise just how much he brings to the table.

We’ve far bigger problems in the team to address than Tav.
Ok Tav

What has Tavs goals actually won us?
Our only silverware this season for a start

Major contributing factor to winning 55 and stopping that lot do 10.

Within a penalty of winning a European trophy which he was the biggest factor in us reaching Seville with countless goals in the knockout rounds

As I said, it is ridiculous that we have relied so much on a right back with goals/assists. If the rest of the team contributed half as much as Tav we’d be far better off in terms of silverware

Despite his goals, he seems incapable of ether motivating or inspiring those around him when the chips are down.
As captain he has to overcome a fear of failure which actually creates failure.
He seldom does.

Sorry but that’s wild.

If it wasn’t for Tav we’d be nowhere near that lot ffs.

Wild
I agree.

Tav's at his sparkling best when we're either out of the race or so far behind, like in October, that there's significantly less pressure.

It's when we've caught up and are in with a shout that the 2 of them bottle it.

4 out of the last 6 goals we've conceded, equalling 5 vital points dropped, against the scum and County are examples of that.

No consequences for repeated failure.

Are you having a laugh? Lost count of the number of important goals we have lost with him out of position and trotting back. He ha, without doubt scored a huge number of goals, but he is never a right back nor a captain
He quite literally is both of these things though.
You might want to have a look at what the word never means

Because rightly or wrongly we’ve made our right back our talisman an we’ve run him into the ground.

Can we rely on or expect any of the other shysters to step up?

It’s wrong.

It would have been like Man City letting Kyle Walker take every corner, constantly be the one taking crosses and trying to create for them tonight as they chased the game. That’s a thing a side like Liverpool don’t even do despite Alexander Arnold having superb delivery.

In modern football fullbacks are becoming more and more redundant while we rely heavily on ours.

For all it’s the blame of others etc, as a style of football it’s fundamentally not worked

He told us himself he can't handle pressure and folk still think people are making it up about his mentality and how a captain with weak mentality can affect the squad.

Barely any of those great moments there were when we were expected to go dominate a game and show why we're favourites in a must win game, that's where he falls apart.

Didn’t actually. Said he was happy to be second best but you keep on pulling for one of the least successful captains in our history

He's not happy to be second best ffs.

You can have your opinion on whether his time is up or not but dome of the utter made up rubbish about a guy who has served the club tremendously is frankly embarrassing and shows up a lot of people.

He along with the rest of the team deserve every bit of criticism coming their way at the moment, surely even you can see that?

He looks like a player and captain who’s been carrying this team on his shoulders for years.
It’s certainly contributed to his poor performances.

So to have one we need to negate the other?

Can we not just get a guy that can do both? No?
You're all over the place here, how can you be in the RW position and the RB position at the same time?
Gerrard had it probably as good as we'll get it, Jack covered RB, Kamara covered the LB when they went forward, Clement tries to get his CB's to cover them, which is high risk.

Saw on another thread that Tav has scored 6 more goals than our entire midfield combined. Speaks volumes.

No one should be immune from criticism but it's when people come on and post utter toilet that drive you mad. I noticed tonight it's reverted back to the "he takes every throw in" patter.

He won us the League Cup, he was dragging us back into games or to victory countless times this season. There were a lot of threads saying he deserves the trophies this season to match his contribution to us as a player.

Short fucking memories. Same goes with Lundstram...people want him hunted despite the fact he's been largely excellent since Clement came in.

Problem is that when we had last summers clearcut, the players that didn't leave became the scapegoats.

Fans however are so punch drunk, starved of success and sick and tired of watching the filth win trophies that we are stuck in this perpetual vicious circle now.

We need to give somebody time to build a squad now instead of hitting the reset button every summer.

No, simply using your logic in regards to second best comment.

Tav has contributed every season. Too many of his teammates haven’t and I find it baffling that he’s continually the target
What have his contributions ‘won’ us? By my reckoning he’s on 3 trophies from a possible 15 since becoming captain. If you’re happy with that then more fool you.

We are watching another edition of our team capitulate and surrender an opportunity to win a league title just like we saw at different times in 18-19, 19-20*, 21-22. We are watching another edition of our team start positively under a new manager then revert to type and look like they don’t know what they’re doing.

The common denominator in all of this is the captain and vice captain. The so called figure head, the leader, the experienced campaigner.

Tavs form has fallen off a cliff the past couple of months. Goldson has been suspect for years.

One trophy.

He's a right back mate. The fact u seem to think he should be popping up with winning goals in numerous finals etc (I'm assuming you're ignoring his huge contribution to our last title also) is crazy abd kinda shows the different standard he is held to.

If you want to get silly, Tav has scored the winning goal in 50% of top level cups Rangers have won in the last 12 years and in 66% of winning cup finals if you include the Petrofac.

He can only do so much though.

He doesn’t sign his teammates

Every year he’s stepped up with contributions.

If all other players contributed half of what Tav has, we’d have far more trophies in the cabinet
His contributions against our rivals have been a disgrace for the most part.

The amount of goals he’s been at fault with is a disgrace.

I don’t care much about the consolation goals you will reply back with because they are exactly that. Consolations

He's an excellent dead ball striker, and excellent at getting shots off from long range. But he's passing is god awful at time it's so lax and he struggles very badly with the defensive side of the game. He's struggling really badly at the minute and that's a massive reason he's taking all the flack.

You’d be chuffed if he stayed and we continued our current trophy run since he’s been here, wouldn’t you ?
I want our recruitment to do a decent job for once and bring in a number of decent players to improve our first 11. For me, improving on Tav would be well down the list of more urgent positions.

We have a midfield that’s slow and lacks aggression

We don’t have 1 decent striker

We have 1 decent winger who’s not even our player

We have 2 bombscare centre halves

We have 1 half decent left back who can’t seem to play a full month of football without ending up on the treatment table

I’d say these positions need addressed before a contributing right back

Because he’s red rotten at being a captain that’s why.

Personal goals aside, and they are plentiful, his trophy return as the captain of Rangers Football Club, a proud institution that had captains winning trophies for fun at one point, is fucking pitiful.

Had he won maybe 2 or 3 league titles it probably wouldn’t be so bad for him criticism wise, but he hasn’t and he’s won two, fucking 2 major trophies with the club as its figurehead.

It’s pathetic.

He’s not the only one to blame, but he’s happy to take the responsibility when the meagre glories follow, so he can accept it when we throw things away.

He’s captain, in good and bad and this is fucking the worst so he can take the beating, and by the way, he deserves it more than some. I don’t care if he scores 157 goals a season, that’s great, but if he finishes second in the league then all these things mean absolutely fucking %^*& all.

I want titles and trophies, not how many goals and assists tavs got for the season.

Our support have been conditioned to accept this utter shite.

Your at the windup right…
When was the last time he had a good game

He has served us well and been a fantastic player. He has however also been an absolute failure as a winner and a captain.

Could not have put it better myself

Because people think one man dictates whether a team wins or loses trophies.

Even when that man is one of the few contributing. And now he's had a few weeks not contributing we can see that the goals and points dry up.

It's bizarre. Bordering on an obsession from some.

Meanwhile guys like Cantwell who produce zero in the big moments get lauded.
A sand dancer. However the decision to bring on Dowell for him was baffling. For once Goldson actually managed to defend before spraying passes out the pitch. He needs dropped. Lundstram absolutely pedestrian, Lawrence pedestrian. Absolutely desperate stuff. I thought Tav was the least worse tonight.
Manager needs to look at himself too, I’m glad I don’t get too excited with this sad succession of managers so I’m not so sure PC is really all that.

Tav dictates play he takes all throw ins and he takes all corners . Our style of play is dictated by everyone trying to give him the ball down his side , he's not the player he was when it comes to crossing or passing .
Id much prefer not to be relying on one player who's best days are behind him .
That's before getting to the fact that he needs someone covering his arse constantly as he is up the park and can't make it back .

BINGO!

Haha, honestly man this fucking place. Why do people feel the need to just make up lies? By all means criticise the players/team, but at least be factual in the nonsense you speak.

I agree although i think its fair to say he is not playing his best but as far as im concerned he has plenty credit in the bank. Lets just say those that want rid of him get their way,who are we replacing him with?Probably Sterling,a decent solid player but he has scored one goal in his entire career,we cant afford to lose the attacking option Tav gives us at the moment.

Easy target.

The armband means nothing, it’s just an administrative requirement. The whole squad and coaching side need to share the blame.

Thank %^*& the playing of fixtures is just an administrative requirement or I’d be pretty upset right now.

Lovely evening I’m having actually, thanks.
