Their troubles are very similar to those they went through after the legendary Sir Matt Busby retired. Manager after manager tried and failed until the arrival of the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson - and even he was almost out before he eventually turned it round. One of Man U's biggest problems seems to be that they don't realise spending £85m on a player doesn't make the player a £85m player. Same thing happened with McGuire, they saw Liverpool pay £80m on Van Dick and decided "oh it's an £80m defender we need" and bought McGuire, despite him not having the required skills.
