Cheers mucker!Yes mate
His hearse is also going by Ibrox on Wednesday supposedlyCheers mucker!
That Evening Times article is based on an interview with Stan Gordon, who organises many of the Legends matches.
He was PeeDee on the old board I think but doesn’t appear to have moved over to the new board, unless he’s incognito.
Was he the guy that owned the bar with Goram?
He owned/owns the Stonefield Tavern in Blantyre I’m sure
Don’t think paying for it is any big deal, I’m sure Fernando will have left his family well set financially.
The big thing for me is the gesture that the club want to be there for them and look after them.
I think the funeral will be quite overwhelming.
I don't know the reasons behind it (and it's none of my business) but I think his Mrs is actually struggling for cash. There was an article in the Guardian I read which said she had a pension of €1,300 a month coming in and that was it.Don’t think paying for it is any big deal, I’m sure Fernando will have left his family well set financially.

There's also a fundraising page set up earlier in the year to help his Mrs with travelling expenses and it's still active: https://uk.gofundme.com/f/veronika-ricksen.
I stuck a tenner in just as a wee thank you.
Yeah I’m pretty sure his ex wife cleaned him out in their divorce. There was long running legal battles about the rest of his cash with her which is a real shame. It left his current wife and daughter with very little.Didn’t realise that, just thought successful footballing career usually means pretty well off and it’s not like he was a big drinker or gambler.
Anyway, glad that they are getting sorted. It’s a big enough sickener for them without needing to worry about money.
The ex wife i think ripped it, so i dont think its that good.Don't think they are that well off tbh. Read a post that his family were living off his pension of 1300 euros a month

Fernando lost a lot of his money in a recent enough, dragged out, divorce. He also had issues similar to those you deny in your above post. He also was receiving end of life specialist medical care and ferrying family over to/from Europe for six year/paying for two households from a hospice bed. His family's current financial trouble is well known. This isn't the thread to have a go at each other, or to talk pish.Didn’t realise that, just thought successful footballing career usually means pretty well off and it’s not like he was a big drinker or gambler.

She dragged the divorce out for as long as possible due to the diagnosis and then took him for his retirement pot and half his assets whilst he was in the midst of it.Did his ex not refuse to pay him what she owed or something?
18 months is what u get he lasted 6 years quite incredible.I heard Alex Rae saying at the start of his illness he was going back and fro to Russia for treatment which was costing a fortune and that treat ment prolonged his life that bit more..Apparently he was given only 18 months when diagnosed?
Pedantic I know but it’s the former players benevolent club
Doing a dinner next month on Aberdeen for it
Gough Hateley Andrews and Dave Smith
Few tickets left - PM if interested

It’s ex players that are paying by the looks of it.Don’t think paying for it is any big deal, I’m sure Fernando will have left his family well set financially.

Indeed. I was reminding myself not to have a go at you for talking pish.Sorry mate, you'll need to tell me who I'm having a go at. If anyone's having a go I'd say it's you.
He took his ex wife to court think he was still due over 300 000 from her.Yeah I’m pretty sure his ex wife cleaned him out in their divorce. There was long running legal battles about the rest of his cash with her which is a real shame. It left his current wife and daughter with very little.

Yeah, you'll need to elaborate on that too.
All I did was make a, now obviously uninformed, remark and was happy to acknowledge that when corrected. Not quite sure why that is 'talking pish'. However as you're clearly an expert on the matter I'll accept your criticism and apologise from the heart of my bottom.
Implying Fernando has money - on a Rangers forum when we are in the middle of collecting for his family's future - isn't helpful. It's extremely unhelpful. That was my point. Someone could read that, believe it, and not bother donating.
OK. But that’ll only happen if somebody reads only my original remark and nobody else’s. Apart from on here it’s also all over the papers now about the financial issues arising from his first marriage.
I made an error and have accepted that and I’ll acknowledge it again. I don’t think I need to be pilloried for it over and over.
However you seem very upset about this and for that I offer you a genuine apology.
I don’t live in Scotland and the only news I’ve heard about Fernando over the past few years has been his battle with MND and his fund raising efforts.
I sincerely hope the fund raising for his family is extremely well supported.
I was only concerned as someone made an incorrect statement about FR's finances during a period of fundraising for him, on a platform where many of those intending on contributing engage. I would have challenged that statement no matter who made it so it is of course not a personal attack and I hope we can put this behind us moving forward. We share the same goals re. financial security for FR's family/what is best for Rangers. No pillorying intended and apologies if it seemed that way. It has been a tough week.
Apologies again if I came across as a dick. I certainly could've responded in a more productive manner and will aim to do so in the future. We are all on the same team here and sometimes issues or discussions can be a bit raw, especially in regards to our much loved, recently departed, captain. Best wishes to you, and thanks for your understanding.Deal
Still owns it.He owned/owns the Stonefield Tavern in Blantyre I’m sure
