Butland's booking

.

If they had scored from a chance that they shouldn't have had the league would have essentially been over at that point.
That decision carried a lot of weight.
Absolutely but in the very long list of bad decisions against us this year (many of which had to go to VAR for us to get rightfully due penalties) I'm not sure it was the worst.

Did the linesman give it? Or did he just change his mind when he saw the man down?

Certainly didn’t look like he was giving it initially. Joke of a decision either way.
Didnt see the linesmans flag go up guessing it was the forth official as Walsh didn't seem interested as it happened.

Shocking decision, thankfully it never cost us. As piss poor it was and as piss poor the performance was, we won so not going to dwell on it. Mon the Dundee.

I'm struggling to see where the foul is in the play because if its a foul its a red card. Butland doesn't follow through onto the player he's got to the ball a yard and a half quicker and cleared the ball. The player has continued his run and clattered into Butlands hip from the side as he's on his way down from the clearance. So Butlands foot and leg are already way past the on running player. Where's the foul?

An absolute joke of a decision, both entitled to go for the ball, Butland got there first, simple, although Walsh might have gave a booking just so he could get a glimpse of the big man up close

I’d love to hear Walsh’s explanation of this. What was even more comical was the St Mirren fans chanting ‘off, off, off’ when Walsh gave the decision.

Well, we, as a club, should be highlighting this decision, amongst others today, because Sky, will have no choice but to broadcast it, if it's live and our scum press will have no choice but to comment.

We are the masters of our own downfall in this naivety and negligence.

However, today is but the start of it.

Flat out cheating.

Literally no way he could have done anything to clear the ball without some contact afterwards as the st.mirren player was running full pelt at him.

And if they got anything from that fk it would have been job done and league over.

Cheating! No doubt about it, he’s a filthy little rat. The decision was outrageous but these c@nts think they are so untouchable now and simply don’t care how blatant and bad it looks because there is little chance anything will be done about it.

Ridiculous decision, wins the ball clear as you like. Two players committed to try and win the ball Butland gets there first and somehow is booked and they get a free kick.

Scottish referees are hopeless.

Based on what law of the game?
Denying a clear goal scoring opportunity. If Walsh is saying Butland had to foul the player to win the ball that's effectively what he's saying. It's commonly referred to as 'the last man'. We only say last man because if there is only one player between you and the goals who fouls you then its considered a clear goal scoring opportunity and is a red card.

How on earth can he be deemed to be denying him a clear goal scoring opportunity if he wins the ball first? You are surely at the wind up here?

Quite simply outrageous. Clearly wins the ball by a distance then collides with the St Mirren player. A terrible decision from Walsh.
Exactly, where was JB meant to go ...? He was in mid air ffs. Also if that was a booking, why was the big clogger (Bolton I think) not even warned about the two foot from behind tackle on Dessers

Not for me. Walsh has given a foul for a coming together long after Butland has cleared the ball away. There is no goalscoring opportunity.

Journalist in the presser actually asked St .Mirren boss if Butland should have seen Red, which Robinson said it wasn't a red card.

Its a fucking appalling decision, and ill repeat, its one we should publicly be highlighting.
There should be no hiding place for Walsh after that.

If he saw it and deemed Butland winning a 50/50 a booking, then he is incompetent. If he didn't see it, and was advised from elsewhere, then he's both corrupt, and corruptible.

It should be the entire focus of our press coverage for the next few days.

The more you see it, the worse it becomes.

He didn’t win it illegally. He won the ball legally then committed a foul off the ball - in the referees eyes. That’s not a goal scoring opportunity or a red card offence.

I know he won it legally, there should have been no foul at all. But if he has given a foul the whole incident is in question.
