He should have been winning something with the players he had avaliable
They would have won stuff with a proper manager, don't understand why they kept him so longA waste of a generation of players under his leadership.
They’ve never had a really top class squad, a 3rd place at the last World Cup was always going to be the best they could do.He should have been winning something with the players he had avaliable
Thank god he never resigned last week….He should have been winning something with the players he had avaliable
This was a tournament too far, to be fair though, they finished 3rd at the last World Cup, which isn’t bad at all.Roberto Martínez must be up there with the biggest frauds of a manager. Those players year after year failing to do anything! There are loads obviously but he’s near the top for me!
Alway annoyed me when he’d be propped up as an expert on Spanish football. He used to play for motherwell .
Just saying:shh:
You could really say the same about Southgate.Mental he was in charge of them. Guy is a lower level EPL manager, he shouldn’t be in charge of Belgium
Any squad with prime De Bruyne, Hazard and Lukaku is right out the top drawer. Also had a very solid defence and one of the best goalies in the world. They should have done so much better than they have. Bizarre that they stuck with a manager like Roberto Martinez, I really don’t see what credentials he has to merit managing that squad of players for so long.I think this idea of Belgium having a golden generation is a bit over-stated.
England also had a golden generation and won nothing but Belgium is nowhere near the level of Europe's big five never mind the South Americans.
Belgium have done well for a country its size.
Yeah, he fell apart when maloney left. He was the brainsA complete fraud of a manager
He used to play for motherwell .

What everyone is saying on this thread could be copied and pasted into the thread about Southgate when he's not England manager anymoreYou could really say the same about Southgate.
They were arguably the best team in the world in 2018.I think this idea of Belgium having a golden generation is a bit over-stated.

I don't think it has anything to do with the size of Belgium, it's more that they have genuine world class players who have under achieved, and that would appear to be due to employing a very poor manager.I think this idea of Belgium having a golden generation is a bit over-stated.

They should have been good enough to win the EurosThey’ve never had a really top class squad, a 3rd place at the last World Cup was always going to be the best they could do.

Generally go to the Euros having the 3rd/4th best squad at a push. De Bruyne and Hazard a few years ago apart rest of the squad are nowhere top quality. They should have been good enough to win the Euros
Roberto Martínez must be up there with the biggest frauds of a manager. Those players year after year failing to do anything! There are loads obviously but he’s near the top for me!
Not a defence of Martinez but that squad is riddled with selfish players with a history of attitude problems.
Lots of internal politics and infighting with the Belgians. That group of players have really underperformed as a team despite having great individual careers.
Who are Europe's big 5 these days? Spain, France, England and?I think this idea of Belgium having a golden generation is a bit over-stated.

That 'big puddin Lukaku' kept him in a job for so longThat big puddin Lukaku cost him his job with the chances he missed.
Spain, France, Germany, Italy are international football’s big 4 in Europe. England don’t get anywhere near any of them. Holland closer to making up the big 5 than England are.Who are Europe's big 5 these days? Spain, France, England and?
So did Davie Cooper ya nutter!!!!He used to play for motherwell .
