I think it does.To be brutally honest, if we sell a player for a hefty profit, does it matter that much how they perform afterwards? I don't see how it would reflect negatively on us if they perform badly.
Clubs earn a reputation for having a successful transfer strategy.
We only need to look across the city for the example. They regularly get good fees for players well above what we would get, thud is simply because they have a good reputation for players doing well after leaving.
