Dessers needs to work on his feet. One touch bang. If he just hit it first time or after one touch if he needs, he would be on 35+ goals for the season. Wonder if that’s something that can be coached in the pre season?

Because he doesn't possess one decent attribute for a striker ok he has scored goals this season but he is fucking chronic when the ball is played into him.

There is no good first touch or composure and we ended up paying £4.5 million for a severely limited journeyman striker which is typical us and there's no way we are getting that fee back on him.

You could tell John Brown was raging at him tday. Hes too predictable tries to cut onto left foot every time when there's no time for that pish just fucking hit it ya donkey.
 
Ultra frustrating today, above and beyond his normal level.
He’s demonstrated he can score goals but could get a lot more if he didn’t take those extra touches every time.
 
Needs to put his laces through it on occasions without fannying about with an extra 1 or 2 touches. HIT THE F@CKIN THING!!!!!
 
Sound ridiculous but I have thought for a while that he is hesitant to hit the ball with power because of his previous injury.

Don't think i have ever saw him hit a shot with any sort of power. Not even one that high and wide.
 
Those defending Dessers saying look at his goal return, he's only playing because there's no one else. It is simply not good enough his goal return. We have dropped points because of his inability to finish gilt edged chances, you can point to defensive issues but him scoring takes the pressure off the whole team. He should have had a few today, how many times have we said it? I could see his team mates getting very frustrated with his attempts, he must be replaced in the summer.
 
I said to my mates about 6 month ago the gaffer should fine him if he doesn’t shoot and cuts back instead , nothing has changed in that period he still does the same thing . He’s hopeless

If we'd still had Defoe around I'm sure he'd have been able to get another 5-10 goals out of Dessers with exactly this approach.
 
Shooting at the right moments is what (in form) Alfie excelled at. Scored from all sorts of angles that way.

You never genuinely expect Dessers to score when he gets the ball. A terribly frustrating player.
 
It seems like it should be hard to criticise someone that has scored 20 goals in debut season, but by %^*& he doesn't do himself any favours. Nobody can say he hasn't contributed, but I don't know a single Rangers supporter that genuinely rates him or wants him to be our number 9 long term.

He's 28 years old. He's all the player he's ever going to be. If we continue with him in the long term, we will be having the same discussions in a years time.

We take 3 points in Dingwall for example if he does his job with any level of competency. Just for starters.
 
Today was a classic Dessers performance. Never mind the 20 goals he has scored its his misses in important games that has cost us the league. Sure we have other problems in defence but over the season he has cost us and i hold him responsible.
He is absolute horseshit and i cant go him at all.
 
Always seems to need that extra touch to put the ball into the perfect place before shooting. The problem is his control is schoolboy level and he delays the shot.

20 goals or no he’s one fucking awful footballer.
 
The manager needs to sit him down and tell him to mix it up

He has ability but he’s too predictable

He has to try a new approach and take early shots and stop always chopping to buy him some extra time

In Scotland there are too many low blocks and packed defences so he needs to adapt his game

He will never improve no matter who the coach is, he’s just an awful footballer. One of the worst I’ve seen at Ibrox in last 60 odd years.

Totally agree, Clement looked to remind him multiple times today. It looked like he was gesturing "one touch and bang" :))
 
What’s worse, dessers himself or the folk who plug away on here defending him?

We won’t be winning any leagues with this guy starting every week that’s for sure.

Stuck with him for next few weeks as ultimately / sadly he’s our best option when you see what the limitations are for the other forward players in terms of injuries / quality

But he needs to be moved on in the summer, we can’t seriously be thinking he’s going to suddenly become the striker we need as he gets to 30yr old.

I find it really hard to argue with this, but just for fun I looked up Super Ally’s first three seasons with us...20, 18 and 24 goals! As much as Cyriel frustrates me, he is keeping pace with a legend in his first season and that must be confusing for all of us on here.
 
The thing about Dessers is, he always wants a load of touches and thinks he has loads more time, in our league in particular, this doesn't happen with the number of bodies packed into the box.

It's a clear and obvious flaw, has been for months. I presume the coaches or manager has instructed him to get shots off quicker and not to take extra unnecessary touches. If they haven't, then why? If they have, then, why isn't he following instruction?

Either way, this seems to be a very solvable flaw. I'd rather a shit shot with the potential of a deflection or rebound, as opposed to a clean dispossession. So my problem is, have the coaches not told him or is he not following orders?

This is all before I start on his absolute failure to understand how to stay onside. Which is a massive frustration too.
 
Amongst other flaws he has no sense of how to anticipate situations in the box.

Early second halt Tav put Sterling in and basically Sterling hit a defender with a poor cut back.
Dessers is standing close to the centre spot watching and wondering what’s going to happen next?
Just my opinion any striker of any kind of standard would have made a timed run across the defender making it easy for a Sterling cross to front post and probably ending up in a goal for us.

Even my wife commented that”he’s not a very good footballer “.

We are 5 goals behind scum FC, had Dessers taken half of the chances laid on a plate for him we would be goals ahead, no question about it, do I blame him for not scoring, the answer is yes I do but also believe that the board knew he was a dud in January and done %^*& all about it, with the CL place up for grabs I find that alarming to say there least.
We will lose this league but it won't be Dessers fault our problems run much deeper than a centre forward who needs 4 chances to convert 1, I am thinking much more about our inability to defend, our lack of a back bone and our insistence of always giving scum FC a couple of gifts, we just cant help ourselves.
