Hickey’s been a starter under Clarke.

I think "could" is doing a lot of heavy lifting. Must be a very, very tight timescale to get back, then you are talking no match fitness.
For his own health / fitness etc Id say he accepts his fate and looks to being fully fit for the new season.

Hickey has been his starting RB for a couple of years and Patterson has played plenty as well. He had finally dumped O'Donnell down the pecking order until these injuries.

Well he has changed formations and shoehorned biscuits hips into centre half, just to play the rebel lady's front bottom. Rather than focus on making him back up LB to a far better player in Robertson. The theory this is a Jardine/McGrain scenario is a nonsense

I think he needs to get away from Everton, always going to be in a relegation fight. Needs to play in a side where there's a bit of freedom to get forward. Crystal Palace would've suited better.
