Police Scotland tell Celtic fans to behave

The first world war titles count, Celtic won them, the 2nd world war titles don't count, we won them. What's the difference a wars a war.
First WW the leagues were still a national competition. 2nd WW the leagues were regional. That was the difference.
Still deemed official competition by the SFL: despite it been WW1

One of our 55 titles was won in that period

As far as I'm aware the authorities wanted football going on to keep up the public's morale back in 1914-18.

As soon as WW2 was declared, they wanted football to go on but was decreed and deemed unofficial also capacities were slashed initially and then relaxed as the war continued.

Plus, the club would look foolish claiming seven titles now, when we've ignored them and have never counted them as official anyway.

Aa an aisde, I doubt any of this present board have a clue about this part in our history anyway.
Rangers hating Aitken squeezed in Rangers fan behaviour when telling fans to behave yesterday, also said Sport is a major part of our City and fans deserve to celebrate...well that tone has changed. Let that message be the one that haunts her all in the name of equality

But the thing is, they have caused carnage in the previous two years also destroying a listed building. But the boot has to rope in Rangers?

Honestly, I'd ban any so called Rangers fan who votes for the natsis from Ibrox.

Different dynamic when we celebrated 55 still in lockdown and no pubs even open.
Police cordons stopping you entering George Sq with alcohol after a certain time. Then Police Scotland appeared in full riot gear.
Not sure but don't think there would be the same appetite to celebrate in George Sq if we won the league again :))
I was outside Ibrox that day to celebrate, that was good enough we never went to george square as i knew it wouldnt end well.

To be honest, pish like this is embarrassing. It's like something you'd read on one of their forums.

They won the league, regardless if we were in the league or not. It doesn't not count because we weren't there.

Mate, it doesn't count, remember when we weren't there, they covered the top tier of the stand in banners as they couldn't sell enough tickets, whilst Ibrox was rocking week after week. They hate being reminded of it. They won 8.5 and most of them missed half of them as they didn't care.

Nothing in the mhedia this morning about them fighting with each other, the campaign to sweep it under the carpet had begun.
There is, a bit below but, they need to stop this bullshit of " a few", it was more than a small section acting like animals and as there will be videos on social media, we can all see they are lying about this. They also shoot themselves in the foot as they say they had to have an overnight clean up as, if it was just a small section of their support, it wouldn't have taken a full nightshift to clean up after the animals. I'm just amazed they said anything.

Celtic fans' 'unacceptable behaviour' blasted by council after carnage on Glasgow streets

Thousands of Hoops supporters flocked to the city centre after their heroes lifted the Premiership trophy - but they left a trail of litter and destruction in their wake.

Glasgow City Council has hit out at the "unacceptable" behaviour of some Celtic fans after huge crowds gathered to celebrate the club's third title in a row.

Thousands of Hoops diehards flocked to the city centre after their heroes lifted the SPFL Premiership trophy at Parkhead, following a 3-2 win over St Mirren.

While the majority of jubilant supporters celebrated respectfully, there were some outbreaks of violence, with shocking footage showing one man being knocked unconscious with a single punch on the Trongate.

Mounds of litter were also left strewn across the streets, with piles of empty booze cans, bags, other rubbish, and broken glass covering much of the area around Glasgow Cross.

As green pyro smoke filled the air, a number of fans scaled the mercat cross building, as well as bus stops and traffic lights, to get a better vantage point to watch the celebrations. This, however, has caused significant damage to the street infrastructure.

As the thousands of Celtic fans drifted away, Glasgow City Council teams were forced into a rapid clean-up, with the Cancer Research UK Race For Life taking place on Sunday morning. The race route included Glasgow Green, Saltmarket, and Trongate - all of which had been thronged with Hoops fans just hours before.

A spokesman for the council praised the "exceptional" work overnight to clear the area of the "substantial" debris left by the joyous Hoops supporters.

The authority also blasted the "damage, disruption, and antisocial behaviour" by some fans that left a trail of destruction in their wake. It is not yet clear how much the clean-up and repairs will cost the council.

A spokesman said: “As crowds began to disperse last night, they left a substantial amount of litter, debris and broken glass in a wide area around Glasgow Cross.
“After an exceptional clean-up effort by our teams overnight, the area is now clear – including the course for the Cancer Research UK Race for Life, which is taking place this morning.

“There has been damage to infrastructure such as bus stops and traffic signals, but we do not yet know the full extent of what repairs will be necessary.

“This kind of damage, disruption and antisocial behaviour remains unacceptable. It should be possible to celebrate and show a basic level of consideration for others in the city at the same time.”

To be fair if we had been given free rein the way they were given it would not have been an issue. The way the riot police were deployed escalated the situation very quickly.

And of course the furore afterwards was all politically motivated.

I sincerely hope so.
We had our jolly in George Square but this can't be allowed to continue every May.
Huge numbers of football fans celebrating on the streets in a bitterly divided city is a recipe for trouble and mayhem.

Celebrate of course but not in this fashion.

Think I agree with you. Better to celebrate in the ground and then with friends.

'Unacceptable' Celtic Glasgow title celebrations marred by violence as 19 people arrested and four cops injured

Glasgow City Council has hit out at Hoops supporters who gathered in Trongate and Glasgow Cross to celebrate Brendan Rodgers leading the side to a third Scottish Premiership title in a row.

Celtic fans have been blasted by Glasgow City Council as title celebrations in the city were marred by brawls, litter and potential criminal damage. Thousands of Hoops supporters descended on Trongate to mark the third Scottish Premiership league title win in a row.

And cops confirmed that 19 people had been arrested in relation to the gathering, with four police officers injured and receiving medical treatment.

Brendan Rodgers men secured the league with a decisive victory over Kilmarnock on Wednesday meaning it was party time when the team took on St Mirren at Parkhead on Saturday. The game finished 3-2 to the home side, sparking jubilant scenes in the stadium and also in the streets of Glasgow.

But the local authority have been left raging, claiming that the "damage, disruption and antisocial behaviour" of the celebration was "unacceptable." The cash-strapped council will need to count the costs of any potential damage to the likes of traffic lights and bus stops, as well as the clean up bill.

Fans were pictured climbing on traffic lights, bus stops and structures, with flares being lit and supporters openly drinking alcohol on the streets, which were littered with rubbish after the crowd left in the evening. Council officials commended the "exceptional clean-up effort" which took place overnight.

While the majority of the jubilant supporters celebrated respectfully, there were some outbreaks of violence, with shocking footage of brawls being shared on social media. One clip showed a man being knocked unconscious with a single punch on the Trongate.

The video captured one man being punched to the ground and seemingly knocked unconscious, with a crowd forming near a bus stop. Another male in green can be seen punching twice at a victim with his top off, as they fall backwards and lie spreadeagled as others rush around to offer their assistance.

Someone appears to put the man in the recovery position as the video ends. Other videos show punch-ups involving fans as some of the celebrations turned violent.

Footage also showed fans kicking a ball around and batting a huge beach ball in the air, with some perched on top of traffic lights around Glasgow Cross and Trongate, with many going "taps aff" due to the weather. One bus stop in Trongage had nine fans standing on the roof, while the local authority closed roads citing a "large gathering of football fans".

Superintendent John Menzies said: "I would like to thank our partner agencies and the wider public for their support. Unfortunately, we experienced some disorder including the use of pyrotechnics and alcohol-related offences. We took robust action to prevent these escalating. Violence and assaults on members of the public or police officers is completely unacceptable and we continue to work to identify those responsible."

They call our title we won under Gerrard, the Covid Title, and not a real title.
Nobody's saying their league titles don't count because we werent there , and I don't know why the poster in post 611 is saying anybody said that. The fact is we weren't there for 4 of their last 13 titles but they were there for all of our 55 titles.,highlighting the fact it's not such an achievement, when your main rivals aren't there for 25% of the time. and let's not forget one of the 13 wasn't won , it was gifted to them by the SPFL.

They were on Clyde during the week saying this was the best title win as we thought we were going to win it. Even they know most of their recent success is hollow.

Aye but they are having tims in the park next Saturday before the game then match to hampden ,this needs stopped now by police Scotland and gcc ....
They won't. Having them in one place is easier for them instead of being everywhere.

The problem is now the unwashed think they are entitled to use that area for anything and anytime they want as they have been allowed to.

As soon as the first ones started arriving they should have been moved on and not let the numbers build. Or just let the bus drivers put their foot down. Or indeed both.

The exhibitionism is OTT this is anti-social in the extreme.

I wonder what it’s like in other UK cities when teams win leagues and cups is it as gruesome as yesterday?

I’ve been waiting all day for the heavy handed comments and (definitely not staged) photos of emergency services crying on street corners.

The sooner we get these rats out of positions of influence the better.

They won’t even wait a year - just watch the total clampdown and zero tolerance approach next week in the city centre should we win the Scottish cup
