Michael Beale on Glen Kamara

“Me and the staff’s relationship with Glen is really strong. Neil Banfield was one of the heads of Arsenal when he was coming through. He is a boy that I was quite influential in bringing to the club and I have gone on a journey with him.

“I think maybe he is one that has maybe been around here too long and maybe needs to re-bolt himself. I think he played 10 out of the first 11 games when I came here.

“We didn’t play very well as a team in the cup final and we made changes with Nico and Todd coming in. Everyone else in midfield had to fight for one position.

“Glen will go away with Finland in the summer and we will see what happens. I think Glen needs the break to really consider where he is at in his career and what he wants to do.”

“The midfield that played the most the year we won the championship was Davis, Arfield and Kamara. That midfield has broken up for different reasons, age and people being out of contract.

“I think Glen is at a stage of his career at 27 where he is either going to be here now for the rest of his career and dig in and have a really strong pre-season – because when I came in he had an ankle problem he couldn’t get over.

“We kicked the operation into touch because we had a lot of injuries and Glen played through that for a period, then we gave him a chance to settle. He has not got back in the team because the boys that are playing have played very well. For Glen everything is open really. He is either going to be here for a considerable future or we will probably sell him this summer.

“I think he needs to look at the competition that’s here in pre-season and decide whether there is going to be enough football for him.”

“It’s difficult sometimes in football because you go on such a journey with a group of players and then the goalposts do move. Age, motivation, experience – and also the fans here are hugely influential.

“Seeing new faces gives energy to the crowd like any football fan. Any fan wants to look to the summer and see a new face coming in. We all do that so I think that’s natural.

“You see the scenes on Wednesday night with players leaving, you go in the changing room and question whether you are doing the right thing but you know ultimately where you need to take the club.

“It is not my sole decision, it is the decision of the board and everyone in between to make sure we make Rangers stronger and take us in a positive direction over the next 3-5 years. Who are going to be the main players in that?

“We spoke about the boys the other night, and Glen and one or two others, have been the bedrock of a championship-winning team and a team that went to a European final. It’s now important that we rebuild another team.”

If good money comes in, then yes, if not, then, he Needs to get back to the Kamara we all have seen.

All fair enough. Clear likes of him, Kent and Morelos need a new challenge.

Equally like Beale says as fans it's exciting to be going into a new season with a new core of players. Needed freshened up, though probably a year late.

Jesus Christ. Bore off mate.

Nothing unreasonable there. Kamara was finished after his cowardly performance in the LCF.
FFS, calm down.
Where did I say it was unreasonable? Where did I complain?

I’ve said on here plenty that I like how much he talks, especially compared to Gio.
It's incredibly refreshing and admirable that he is as honest as he is with the sort of thing he's talking about here. Everyone knows exactly where everyone stands.
Agree. I do think he’s being a bit clever here too and bigging Kamara up to potential suitors as well.

I'm probably in the minority, but I'd keep him
I would love a fully fit and motivated Kamara - 12 months ago we were touting him as a 10 million pound player, hugely influential in getting us 55 and then a European final. In all likelihood he is leaving but minimum 4-5 million - would be crazy to sell for anything less.

It’s waaay past time for him to move on. Hasn’t turned up since God knows when. A waste of a shirt. Get him punted.

It’s encouraging that Beale has come in and managed to see that these players have had their time. I thought he might have stuck with Kamara, Kent and Morelos because he knew them from his previous spell.

It’s a mystery why this has turned out this way. He was playing well and adored by fans, then something has got in the way and unravelled that.

I think he needs to go but it’s a damn shame.

On his day, Glen is easily one if the best central midfielders in the country.

Unfortunately those days a few and far between for a long time now, will always remember his involvement in the 55 season and ofcourse his goal in the EL semi final.

Hopefully he can get a decent move and can kick on for the rest of his "prime years"

I think he suited Stevie G’s tactics perfectly when we played with the 2 DM’s. He regressed under Gio.

His time at Rangers is over best for both parties if he is moved on. His decline in form has been extremely worrying
As much as I agree players can and do turn it around, I will admit its not looking favourable however that suggests the situation is firmly in Glen's hands.. Best case scenario is he goes and has a fantastic spell for Finland then a suitable buyer comes in with a decent offer... most certainly a case of rapid decline on the park and in terms of value.. absolute ball ache because when he was on form he was outstanding for us.

Suggests that it’s all on Kamara to prove to Beale why he should stay at Rangers. If Kamara isn’t interested then Beale won’t hesitate kicking him into touch.
It sends a very clear message to the guy that he needs to play his football elsewhere.

Time for him to go, He’s gone Stale, It happens, We thank you for your Service, Good Luck for the Future, Onwards & Upwards to our New Players coming In,

If the manager is saying he needs to think of he wants to be here or not tells you that he doesn’t belong here anymore.

Hopefully we get a decent fee and he can go with our best wishes.

In fairness I think Beale is saying all the right things there.

He can’t come out and say Kamara is crap and we are desperate to sell as that undermines our position in any transfer negotiation.

I'm frustrated as hell with kamara cos he is a tremendous player but I'm not buying the injury thing, he wasn't injured at Dundee when he took a similar huff to get to us. A strong motivated kamara will be an asset in any team, including ours but that ship has sailed. It's a fluff piece for potential buyers.
