Bears Abroad

Was having a chuckle at some of the stories on the dangerous animals thread and it dawned on me how many on here live over seas.

Any good tales of how you ended up wherever you are in the world?

Boring cnut here - I live ten mins from where I did as a kid.:)

I would be very interested to hear these tales too.
Remember bumping into a couple of Bears in Porto the other year, who live in Majorca, - living a great life - really interesting to listen to too.

I have been living in Spain for five years, playing golf, walking football, padle tennis it is a great lifestyle the only thing is that there's no other bears in my village. Plenty of expats who support English teams they all comment on how well the Famous Glasgow Rangers are doing but I really miss talking to other bears , that's why first thing in the morning I am on FF

Been in Florida 31 years now...member of the original Florida RSC based in Ft Lauderdale, then founder member of the Naples Loyal RSC since 2003. Enjoying it but the call of home is getting stronger, so counting the days til I retire to Devon (hoping 4 years or so).

Abu Dhabi, obviously, for me. Worked on the M74 extension into the city until Xmas 2010 then didn't work for.around 8 months (wasn't overly bothered as my old man was unwell and there was a bit of.running about for him and my mother). Eventually, August 2011, a good friend called me to see if I could help him out in AD for 3 months and here I am, 9 and a half years later, still in Abu Dhabi.

Is Devon home or do you just like it?

Been in LA since 87' plan was to come for a year with my best mate (one of them) and drive/work cross country then come home, never did it..but got a job right away working in restaurants and bars, and then eventually fell into the film business which I still work in today.
Worked illegally for the first four years then luckily won my green card in the AA1 government lottery program which was open to UK citizens at the time....
Long standing member of the LA True Blues, and this past year with the bars closed we get together on the golf course almost every weekend and also member zoom meet during the games ..
We are allowed back at the pub this weekend for Sunday's game (outside tent with masks etc) so looking forward to having a few beers with the boys again..

Feel the same as @gorams_glayva re call of home when I retire, although not sure where yet..

Is it true that the people in Bahrain don't like the Flintstones, but the people in Abu Dhabi do?

(sorry)

Emigrated to Canada in 74. My mind was made up as the UK was sliding into the Common Market and both Heath and Wilson were as useless as tits on a bull. Left my boring job in a Bank and when I arrived in Canada was a Branch Accountant . Eventually made Manager and continued from then on until retirement.

It was a good move for my kids as they are both Canadians now even though my daughter can put on a Scottish accent and says things like "fankled" and "black affronted". I have never lost my love for the Rangers and follow each and every game religiously. That means, a protestant religion of course.

Do you Know Ron Jeremy ?

Moved to Slovakia in October. Staying with the missus here.

Started working in a financial firm in January and trying to learn slovak.

My mates here aren’t really football fans more ice hockey - but one was an avid follower of Artmedia Bratislava. So we have something in common about enjoying victories over Celtic B-D

A good mate of mine has very recently went to Abu Dhabi for work.
I think it's a 3 year contract he has.
