A sore one that day, compounded by a 5-0 defeat by Cologne 4 days later.

Possibly the first home game of 85/86 season which we won one nilI was going to ask if that was the first league game at Ibrox under Souness v Dun Utd. Beautiful day, some wonderful play in the first half and two goals to the good and then it turned to mush.
But I doubt we wore those socks that season.
What a %^*&*ng introduction!I was at both games

My favourite ever Rangers picture. A real Bear, in the best ever Rangers strip, leaving the scum for dust. Classic!
Was that not the cover of the Playing for Rangers that year?My favourite ever Rangers picture. A real Bear, in the best ever Rangers strip, leaving the scum for dust. Classic!
Yes it was,Was that not the cover of the Playing for Rangers that year?
That Hibs badge was awful.
Rotten like the whole club it represents, but I have to say that on THIS occasion, the player wearing it was pretty SPECIAL!That Hibs badge was awful.
Cracking goal from wee Alex. He could so easily have ballooned the ball over the bar but he met the ball perfectly.
Love that picture, I was standing in the crowd in the background at the uncovered end.
you would have been soaked then, those of us in the Rangers end got it lucky that dayLove that picture, I was standing in the crowd in the background at the uncovered end.
Me too, just about at the end of Alex’s left elbow. . . which would sometimes be a very dangerous place to be!Love that picture, I was standing in the crowd in the background at the uncovered end.
Correct, it rained most of the game.you would have been soaked then, those of us in the Rangers end got it lucky that day
Yup, just a hankie full of black snotters as a momento of the day.you would have been soaked then, those of us in the Rangers end got it lucky that day
The best header of a ball that i've ever seen in my 54 years of following Rangers.
And the added bonus with DJ was that he was equally as good a defender as he was a striker

I was also at the 3-2 defeat at Torbett Towers. We were unlucky. It seemed to me to be busier than normal that day. Chocca in the Rangers end. And just under a year from that game, November 1981 we drew 3-3, we were 3-2 up at half time. Gordon Dalziel’s OF debut and scored that day. As for the FC Cologne disaster I left my house when we were down 1-0 and by the time I got to my mates in Kildermorie Road Easterhouse we were 4 doon….Was at the Scumdome that day and we played very well, in fact I'd go as far too say from what I can recall, we were by far the better side, a wee rub of the green and we'd have won. IIRC did Scum not score the winner in last few mins with a breakaway from a Rangers corner when we were presding strongly for the winner ourselves.
I recall the 5-0 defeat to Cologne was played the day after my 21st birthday. Me and a mate were going to listen to live radio commentary but the game kicked off 30 mind earlier than we realised and by the time we put the radio on we were already 4 down.
Raining bottles and cans by all accounts from both sets of fansCorrect, it rained most of the game.
Should have been in the Greatest Rangers team!!DJ at his very best, which was very very good.
Brilliant photo @ItsInTheNet.
2 of the 4 were also against Hibs. Two of Ibrox's four 100,000+ football attendances in the same season?
Yup, two and two.2 of the 4 were also against Hibs.
Dallas couldn’t book him as Balde had scored for them and he also removed his top and didn’t get booked…
Lennons face says it all.
