Must be missing something here but two large groups met up, shouted at each other, let off a flare, pushed a wheelie bin down the road and threw some stuff at each other.
There didn’t appear to be much willingness to fight each other considering there was one copper there in his car to break it up.:p

Funny you mention that name. I was watching a show on prime today about bare knuckle boxing and how they were trying to clean up the image etc and Barrington was the ref in all the fights.

It’s a decent book, worth a read. Know he’s involved in all that, comes across as very genuine and honest in his book.

All countries that was occupied during the war by the Germans had the option to enlist to in ss regiments of your own nation or be used as slave labour or be sent to prison/concentration camps , you should read the book Hitlers British ss made up of British pow's they volunteered to join rather than stay in a prison camp the only rule was that you didn't engage with your own nationals , the British ss regiment were mostly used for show touring Germany , but other ss foreign regiments mostly fought on the Russian front , like French, Belgium Dutch fins Danes Bulgarian Romanian they had their national flag on there ss uniform, like the British ss had the union flag on there arm . Its a really interesting read & all true , most of who joined the ss were sent to prison after the war .

In my youth I worked with an old guy who fought in the Spanish Civil War against Franco. He was a Glaswegian of second generation Irish immigrants. His contempt for the RC Church allied to Franco would surpass many on FF.

You are probably more likely to get get into a fight walking about Glasgow city centre on a Saturday night than half these places

I think a few folk need to read about the Balkan war again. The Serbs were intent in writing a few historical wrongs and were doing okay with the killings until the UN stepped in.
My late father said that went Tito went Yugoslavia would split, turn to shit and perceived historical wrongs would be righted.

I was in Warsaw and heard of no fighting, in fact did the police not sit outside a pub in the centre where rangers fans were drinking?

Don’t think any rangers fan was dishing out any slaps to Warsaw ultras :D

Osijek after the game was probably the most intimidated I’ve been at the football.

Police thought it was a good idea to walk us past their ultras pub before panicking and chucking us in taxis

If police weren’t there we’d have got pasted given the numbers of them

The attempt to get a british ss regiment was a failure and the nazis quickly dropped the idea. Your right, they did try to get british pow to sign up, but the vast majority told them to do one.

The problem you had with other countries in europe was men volunteered to join the ss. In fact some of the most fanatical fighters during the last days in berlin, were waffen ss, made up of men from denmark, norway, sweden and france.

A lot of them were into fighting the red army and communism.

Our Euro away support is the best on the planet, don’t think you’d have to be immortal to face folk in balaclavas with poles shouting at you. In my experience the Rangers away support in Europe does not get pushed about very easily, a hardcore group of loyal fans .
