Gerrard and McAllister pay visit to Auchenhowie

Something that's concerned me for a while - Auchenhowie is nigh on 20 years old now.

And while it's a good facility, it's bound to be lacking certain things given the advances in sports science over that time.

I'd hope we look at upgrades when we are in a better position financially.

I’d say everything at the club needs upgraded, it’s just a case of prioritising

Superb, you just knew by his Press Conference, that although he officially starts on 1st June, the work had already started prior to the announcement. Welcome to Rangers, Steven Gerrard MBE!!

This is good PR exercise for us as I’m sure SG and GMc’s new job will be a key talking point.

It’s the small things.

Respectfully waiting until the players aren’t there.

Also, do the record not employ proof readers? Spelling mistakes in a national publication. Not really surprising.

Spelling mistakes, grammatical errors and incoherent sentences due to missing words.

I wonder what they’ll think of the way the Rangers support and board promotes our brand worldwide.
Makes sense, I hope that at the appropriate moment someone connected with the manager will have a look at how the SG brand is being impacted and how to improve our abysmal PR. Wouldn't be difficult to improve on 'none'. You could imagine e.g. when he's out in Dubai promoting Liverpool he thinks 'wonder if we could do something like this for the Rangers?'
Item's 1 through 10 on the agenda will, of course, be football but I believe the SG team will look to improve us across the board and, these days, that must include PR, branding etc.

People might be surprised but our training facility is actually still pretty good even compared to Melwood at Liverpool. The main difference being Liverpool have a separate centre for their Academy which will be where Gerrard works currently.

I don't think our training centre is too far away from what they are use to working with.

This concerns me a bit and I'll tell you why. Warburton did the same and rumours about him wanting away back down south began soon after he arrived here. Within a few months of his arrival there was speculation that he was wanting the Fulham job (I think). Such rumours never really went away during his time here.

If Gerrard is fully committed to the Rangers job then his family needs to be moving up here and going to school here etc.

That's if it's true of course.
All that, then you add this?
The commitment line is a nonsense, bud.
There is more to life than for Gerrard than his job.
Do you really think upheaving his kids, or not, from their schooling is the measure of his commitment?
As for the rumours, if you live your life worrying about rumours you’d be a sad, sad, man in any walk of life and much more so if you’re in the football world.

Let me spin you an alernate scenario: his oldest daughter will be taking exams next year having been taught a completely alien curriculum to that which we know here.

Is he liable to be more or less happy ruining his daughters education and dragging her up here?
Well said.
Anybody seriously believing it’s imperative that he moves his whole family up here is, I’ll be as polite as possible, being unrealistic.

This video shows Stevie G going back to Melwood it seems his team are split between Melwood and the youth academy in Kirby . Gives you a little insight into what he might want at Auchenhowie .

Couldn’t have been overly impressed if they’re wanting changes.
If you bought a house, would you leave it as is?? He will want changes to facilitate his ethos. that might be everything from eating practices, training, youth facilities, office space etc... he will likely want to get a feeling as close to Liverpool, for his team.

Only if I liked it and I’d change what I wasn’t impressed with!

that video is like football porn. I'm even happier after watching that. His ethos about the club family, representing the club and hard work will be a huge bonus.

exactly. No arguing the point as such. i just think that he will want things done his way and tbh, our way may not be professional or modern enough for him or just doesn't suit his way of working. i think the facility itself is pretty decent.

If Gerrard & Gary Mac see fit to initiate changes to the setup at the training ground in advance of their official start then I'm all for it.

I have every confidence these amendments will be done for the betterment of the squad & our preparations for one thing; winning.

Let's go!

Gerrard has a multi million £ home where his family are settled and his kids are at school and amongst friends where his wife is settled and I would presume loves her environment.
This is a guy, who as a player was used to being away from home and their arrangements will probably be similar to when he played.
The big bonus will be his family will not be subjected to the abuse by supporters of the all inclusive club like no other

A longer interview from the same video i posted above of Stevie G and Klopp talking about management .

This is one of my hopes for what Gerrard brings to us.

I remember seeing an EPL feature on Bolton and each player was handed an ipad before the game with clips of the opposition player they'd be facing up against to show them what they could be dealing with.

It's that sort of detail that I bet we don't even get close to. Hopefully he brings in a tonne of fresh ideas that help us improve.

Yeah, some of our lot would probably use it to tweet:

“Just saw I’m up against xxxx OMFG!! Wish me luck!!!”

:D

Not that i expected anything less of the man but it's good to see Stevie G not taking this task lightly and doing some groundwork so make the transition on 1st June all that bit easier for him to settle.

I can't wait. Unpredictable times ahead for us but it's exciting and hopefully successful.

Auchenhowie will be the absolute definition of professional under these guys.

Steven Gerrard was world class, he has bloody high standards as does his back room staff.

Still bouncing about with this appointment.
Exactly. He's coming in having worked both as a player and coach in one of the most professionally run complexes in the UK, not just an idea like others. He'll demand the same and that can only be a great thing for us moving forward. Roll on June 1st...

Gerrard does the business with us then he's leaving to go to one place.

He won't be flirting with the likes of Fulham and Nottingham Forest.
