We need a spine of three Scots players who know our tradition, not journey men, with the ability to play with minor knocks, not bail onto, I’m injured for the slightest small knock, and out for two months!
Its a great shoutI think we may finally try to move away from being a hospice for failed footballers, signing guys who were in poor form hoping to turn it around has been a bewildering model.
Sign players who have a career on the up.
The aim has to be following teams across Europe who develop the best young talents, we aren't even attempting that.
The manager has mentioned before about looking for Scottish players including getting more from our own B team .I would expect us to sign some Scottish based players . Not sure if we have any in the B team capable of making the step up.To the clown who laughed at this post, why is that so funny? It’s actually very fair comment.
What about Serie A jobbers?Avoiding English championship jobbers would be nice.
Reckon you'd be around £12 - £15m before add ons AND wages! And not a centre back between them!Hopefully spl or scottish based players that the usual suspects turn their nose up at.
Watson Armstrong Baron Shankland L Miller for starters.
A mix of Belgian and Norwegian dealings will be an interesting summer! The signing of Dio gives me hope that we’ll be looking seriously at the Scandi market.
If we sign South Americans I don't think we'll lose them for International football, unless we find a gem like peak Alfie againI don't think I'd be going for too many African or South American players if they are going to be involved in international tournaments and miss important parts of our season.
we used to make good signings from there. What about Serie A jobbers?
The players like Barron etc who won't cost the moon are practical and understandable signings. However, taking a player from each team of the spfl is overkill.Sorry I dont get this " We need Scottish players" Sorry most being mentioned on here are not good enough. European teams come over here and hammer Scottish teams full of Scottish players time after time.
Answer is not more Scottish players its better quality players no matter there nationality.
That's already poor value for players who don't then win leagues, but even more so when they hardly play. We've got five guys in our squad right now - Davies, Balogun, Dowell, Lawrence and Roofe - who were bought from English clubs and who have played a combined 4839 minutes this season (stats from Transfermarkt). Butland, Tavernier and Goldson have played 4300-4600 minutes each. Maybe Balogun isn't on huge money, but those are some expensive contracts in terms of pounds per minute of football.I know a scout at another club who was chatting to someone from our club and we're pretty much done with that market. They mentioned the difference in wages someone from the championship would want compared to someone in Scandinavian the balkans ect can be up to 10/20% a difference
Horny for the summer thenI remain convinced that based on his Brugge team a good few years back we are going to see a bunch of random African wide forwards who are all like shit of a shovel, direct and shoot from everywhere. I’d swear that team played games at 100mph and had a team of real live wires who were ludicrously quick with or without the ball.
Some experience, some youth.
Hopefully the core is replaced with leaders and experience.
Players we've been linked with before who we could maybe get.
Niklas Dorsch
Auston Trusty
Shon Weissman
No idea if those players are out with our reach or are garbage now.
Just throwing names out and hopefully get some suggestions from others.
Hopefully some Scottish players, so badly missed
I said last summer that our number one priority should have been a replacement CB for Helander and a goal scoring Striker,Some experience, some youth.
Hopefully the core is replaced with leaders and experience.

Folk Like SakalaI’d fucking love this.
Not only liked with players, SMSM will have us linked with McInnes againSome experience, some youth.
Hopefully the core is replaced with leaders and experience.

Folk Like Sakala
That was my point.Sakala was hard done by here and I won't hear otherwise.
We absolutely must move away from the English market it simply does not provide value or winners as we have seen.
For me we need to seek a blend of the best Scottish talent and players from value for money markets like Scandinavia, Africa, Eastern Europe and South Americans (Colombians as referenced by the gaffer)
It does feel like it’s time to move on from the senior players at the club. Lundstram is out of contract and if there is interest in Tav from Saudi I think it would be time for him to bow out. Goldson is done and needs moved on if we can get rid. Without a change in these influential influences I am not sure how the culture ultimately changes. They are only going to regress as players on the pitch and haven’t been won enough to pass on experience to younger players.
Wouldn’t say Sima is a must personally. His goals have been very welcome but he’s just not technically good enough in my opinion. Certainly not at the price he’d be which you’d assume with him having a few years left on his deal would be at a minimum what Brighton paid for him. We could get 2 players of a better quality at that price with good scouting. Limited budget in the summer will mean he won’t be here for these reasons.Reckon you'd be around £12 - £15m before add ons AND wages! And not a centre back between them!
Sima is a must to make permanent!
Even if we had £22m to spend you'd be disappointed with that business
Exactly. We sought and appointed Clement as he had a winning mentality and track record of winning things. If you are going to bring in players particularly those to bring experience then you should look for that in them too. Younger players you want to see a burning desire to be the best they can be and win thingsFor comparison, Celtic have one prominent player I can think of who signed from the English lower leagues; O'Riley. By all accounts, he was a genuine standout where he was and his signing was good scouting/timing.
Our team is full of lower league players who were/are a big hit in their own household and not much further.
Well saidPlayers who are prepared to run through brick walls to get a result every game.

The likes of Cantwell, Goldson, Dowell, Lawrence, Matondo, Davies, Lundstram etc have neither won things nor appear to have that ruthless win at all costs mentality you need at Ibrox.
We need to find players who will kill their granny to get their hands on titles. And just as important who will hate and despise the other lot with a passion.
That makes me feel better ,hope Phil implements this.I remain convinced that based on his Brugge team a good few years back we are going to see a bunch of random African wide forwards who are all like shit of a shovel, direct and shoot from everywhere. Half the Scotland team is playing at a far higher level and started in the SPFL.Sorry I dont get this " We need Scottish players" Sorry most being mentioned on here are not good enough. European teams come over here and hammer Scottish teams full of Scottish players time after time.

Not sure on names etc but own player we have to get is a Steve Davis type..someone who can dictate tempo of game and actually pass forward with accuracy. Some experience, some youth.
Hopefully the core is replaced with leaders and experience.

Athleticism has to be a priority. No history of serious injury. Some track record of success at big (relatively speaking) clubs, even if from smaller leagues. Demonstrable ability to compete. We have to filter out guys like Silva and Lammers in our scouting - guys who have something about them but just don't show up in our strange league.
