A two of Sterling and Diomande would bring all the energy and strength we need in there. One sits, one goes forward. They're quick, strong and skilled players. Diomande can score from range too.

No more of this Lundstram garbage where he picks up the ball on our 18-yard line and dithers around before passing it sideways. He's always leaving far too much space for the opponent's midfield.

The team is like that 'Whack-a-mole' game: every time we plug a hole, it just causes issues to pop up elsewhere.

The midfield is getting overrun because they are having to compensate for a poor forward and defensive line, and aren't mobile enough to do that as well as their own job.

Last week, we weren't pressing Celtic because we were concerned about their pace on the counter.

Hell, you could even say that the reason our RB has consistently been our total scorer is because we know that the midfielders and strikers don't get enough goals.

Unless players are capable of doing their own jobs competently and consistently, using other parts of the team to cover up their deficiencies will continue to result in problems cropping up elsewhere.

It’s an interesting point and I think a lot of us would have advocated more bodies in midfield last week.

The defence is ropey to say the least but we don’t get anywhere near enough from the front 4 either.

For now I’d be playing Sterling, Diomande and another in there.

Lundstram needs dropped due his performance today and first half last week, there can be no sentiment while it’s still alive.

Dessers dropped too whether that means Silva through the middle or Roofe.

For Dundee away and/or Hearts I’d be looking at a diamond in midfield maybe with Sima having a free role to play off Whichever striker you go with.

Still leaves LB a problem position until Yilmaz returns.

We are now being over run in games on a regular basis. Whether it's players not good enough or just off form

Not sure if a flat midfield 3 or 4 will help us be we need to try and do something to gain control of games and not be outnumbered.

How many games now, you can see opposition players with acres of space in the midfield? Get bodies in there and get the control back, never mind the fidgeting about with diamond formations or 4231 or whatever it is we are trying to do.

I've been saying this on the forum for years to deaf ears.

We play with a bunch of 10's and stroll around thinking we're Man City, not had a proper midfield since Gerrard was regularly playing with Kamara, Davis and Jack. With the likes of Arfield in front of that trio for extra solidity.

It's no coincidence we haven't won a meaningful OF game since we ditched the 3 in midfield for a kamikaze 4-2-4. In fact the only OF game we have won in recent times, albeit a dead rubber we went back to the flat 3 in midfield with Jack, Lundstram and Raskin.

Tactically we are a mess. Against Hibs we had a gaping hole in the middle of the park that they exploited a lot.
Against Celtic it was the exact same.
Today we had Lundstram on his own chasing shadows.

We need to change our shape/discipline asap. Especially at Celtic Park. If we go there with 2 in the middle of the park they’ll swarm over us again.

Absolutely spot on. We started the game with basically only an out of form Lundstram as an out and out centre midfielder and he continually drops right off into the back line. We were left with nothing in the middle of the park at times when County were breaking. Dowell isn’t a centre mid either. We lacked control all game and nothing was done about it. Either Sterling or Raskin would have made a big difference to our shape. We are far too easy to play through.

This has been our main problem for at least 2 seasons and certainly since Steven Davis finished.

We lack strength in midfield and rarely dominate a match.

I wish PC would go back to using Sterling in midfield.

Stop letting Lundstram drop into defence as it leaves us massively short in the middle.
