4-3-3 attacking and 4-5-1 in defence. Same set up to Gerrard's 2-1 win there in 2019 with every player putting in a defensive shift when we don't have the ball.
 
I rarely guess the team, but I’m intrigued by the puzzle of how to strengthen the midfield. I wonder if Clement will try play-anywhere Sterling as the number 10, to nullify McGregor?

Wouldn’t mind Sterling right wing, Raskin in midfield but we’ve not a lot of options. Hope we can get minutes out of Sima and Matondo.
 
I can't believe I am going to say this but Silva's goal at the weekend is making me think he should play :oops:

Just the wee bump of the defender, things like that we have been missing in games against them. Having someone coming in from wide with some actual intent of getting on the end of things can be invaluable.

In saying that, the other part of me doesn't trust him not to act like an arse, get caught up in nonsense and end up walking.
 
As with others I’d like to see Sterling played more centrally but I think this would disrupt Clement’s favoured formation and I don’t see him making any radical changes.

This is the team I'd start.

Let Ridvan and Tav provide the width and crosses, with enough in midfield to cover them and win the battle. Silva, Dessers and Cantwell will need to work their arses off, and all can do that.

2-1 Rangers, get right into these filthy vermin from kick-off.
 
I’m surprised by how few of us had Lawrence starting - he’s my first choice 10 all day long.

We have been watching the games this season , he has been rotten apart from his cameo role against ten man Killie.

Move Tav up one.

Drop Silva and play Lawrence in his natural postion.
 
What id like to see , either a 4231 with Sterling and Diomande as the double pivot
Or a 433 with lundstram - Sterling - Diomande in the middle

I think Clement will stick with the tried and tested

If we aren’t playing Cantwell as the 10, by pushing him wide on either left/right, then I think Lawrence or Dowell get the nod ahead of him. Far more disciplined players who will play the role but retain positional discipline. Cantwell would likely get the hump at the change of position

I wouldn’t be against this

Under Gerrard when we played Kent-Morelos-Roofe we tore them apart and that side there would have a similar shape and role for Roofe
 
If we stick to Clements 4231 I can’t see us winning to be honest.
They’ll overrun us. Taylor and Johnstone will bomb forward. Silva won’t track his runner.
Meaning we will end up chasing shadows.

He needs to change it but he won’t.

Aberdeen caused them all sorts of issues when they played the 2 up front as it cancelled out the starting point of Hart- Carter-Vickers -Scales -McGregor.
It meant they had to go long and Furuhashi was as much use as a wet tissue at that point.

That's what I'd go as well. Possibly Silva for McCausland on right. Just for pace and more goal threat on break especially against Taylor.

I'd ideally want to know whether Balogun and Sima are fit to play.
 
The Sima stuff is curious. Say he's got 45 minutes in him, do we start him and try and get the game won or is he better off the bench? I'd be inclined to start him if he's capable of it. We're too reactive in these games.

I can’t see it being a 4-2-3-1
I think we need to load up on the midfield..
I’d think we go for 3 in midfield
Sterling, Lundstram and Diomande
2 sitting behind Dessers
The 2 sitting behind being Cantwell and another..
not sure who that’ll be alongside Cantwell.
Lawrence is a possibility as is McCausland but if Sima is even 50% fit its time to put him out for the first 45 minutes.
I suspect Sima won’t be ready in such case our options are the two guys mentioned above, I’d go for Lawrence but if he’s looking out of his depth I’d hook him immediately.

If Borna starts, I’d be astonished.
He melts at Parkhead.
No idea why but he can’t handle it.
If we could clone Sterling he’d probably play in 4 positions on Saturday.
We can’t clone him so play him in midfield along with Lundstram and Diomande.
Dessers should be up front with 2 behind him.
Cantwell and Lawrence would be my choice

If Sima is anywhere near fit enough I’d have him in place of Lawrence.
