Official Welcome to Rangers - Sam Lammers

Welcome aboard, gets my full backing and think he may surprise a few.

Given his recent record at Atalanta, I wonder if we could have haggled down lower than €4m

Speaking after joining Rangers, Lammers said: “I am really excited to join Rangers, my first impressions have all been good so I am even more excited for the season to start now.

“I came in contact with the manager and he came over to see me in Italy, we had a good talk and he gave me a presentation about the club and about how I could fit in so ever since that moment I was excited for this project and to get here.

I already knew some things about Rangers, I know the history, I know it is a massive club in Scotland and also worldwide but it is always a good thing to have the personal side of it.

Manager Michael Beale commented: “Sam is a player I have been aware of for a number of years. I first knew him as a young player at PSV and have followed his career closely from afar and he excelled in Holland both in the Eredivisie and the under-21 national team.

“Sam will give us great technical and tactical quality, being able to play in a variety of attacking positions as a number 10 or nine. He was the first player I met with as part of the planning for the new season and during our lengthy discussions, it was clear that we share the same ideas on football and on his personal development moving forward. He has a strong alignment to the other players in our squad.
On recruitment as a whole so far this close-season, the manager continued: “I am delighted with our progress so far in this summer transfer window. We have worked extremely well to recruit Jack Butland, Dujon Sterling, Kieran Dowell and Sam Lammers. We are ahead of schedule in our plans.

“The coming weeks will see more trading both in and out of the squad as we prepare for the season ahead. We have key areas of focus and we are close to securing our targets in those positions.”

In Michael Beale We Trust

He looks a very intelligent decent sort of lad. I hope he has that bit of bad bastardness in him which I would say is a prerequisite especially against the tims and sheep ( unless blessed with that God like Laudrup ability where it is unrequired).

Looks like even if he's not going to score a loads of goals he's going to entertain us and get bums off seats, not had many players to do that in the past few years

Skill shown on his highlights clip make him look a very good technical player. Looks powerful in the air, and a few clips where he carves a chance for himself in a way that's almost like Mols, albeit in a body that's more like Tore Andre Flo.

I suspect that his poor stats in recent seasons are mainly a result of things just not working out for him at Atalanta then probably struggling to find a home while out on a succession of loans. Let's hope that this move gives him a bit of stability and he's able to find his place and make a real mark here.

Hopefully he shines against the dross of the SPL , stats are ridiculous though , Negri scored more in a half :D

A completely different type of player and a completely different era.

Negri was also a weirdo who sat on his arse contributing nothing for 3 years.

No idea why you're mentioning these 2 players in the same conversation.

Just concerned we’ve bought a striker that doesn’t score goals , obviously need to wait and see how it goes

Didn't someone say he would fulfil the Kent narrow 10 role?;)

With his goal scoring record it’s not like he would have been replacing Alfie is it.

In terms of the signing, good to keep getting the business done sharp, boy clearly has something given the level he’s played at, I hope he can shine in Beale’s system.

The big man in my username didn’t have the best stats before joining us so for the people doubting him already, maybe give him a chance to show us what he can do before moaning about the signing.

Whatever his role, I see him scoring more than last season’s Alfie if I’m honest. He might have lost his goal touch in Italy but the raw skills will still be there. Down to Rangers, and Beale, to bring them to the pitch.

Nothing ever guaranteed in football but I suspect this lad might just be a sensation for Rangers.

Let's see.

A Dutchman who can play as a 10 or a 9 - what more do you need?
