Official Welcome to Rangers - Sam Lammers

For people less than enthused, a journeyman striker in Kevin Van Veen has just finished in the top end of the scoring charts for last season, having previously been quite unremarkable. If we get that kind of goal return from Lammers who appears to have good technical ability , we will all be over the moon. That’s no criticism of KVV, simply an example that unexpected names can do well here.

Hes pointing out the doubters!!!

Welcome to Lammy’s Show B-)

Speaking after joining Rangers, Lammers said: “I am really excited to join Rangers, my first impressions have all been good so I am even more excited for the season to start now.

“I came in contact with the manager and he came over to see me in Italy, we had a good talk and he gave me a presentation about the club and about how I could fit in so ever since that moment I was excited for this project and to get here.

I already knew some things about Rangers, I know the history, I know it is a massive club in Scotland and also worldwide but it is always a good thing to have the personal side of it.

Manager Michael Beale commented: “Sam is a player I have been aware of for a number of years. I first knew him as a young player at PSV and have followed his career closely from afar and he excelled in Holland both in the Eredivisie and the under-21 national team.

“Sam will give us great technical and tactical quality, being able to play in a variety of attacking positions as a number 10 or nine. He was the first player I met with as part of the planning for the new season and during our lengthy discussions, it was clear that we share the same ideas on football and on his personal development moving forward. He has a strong alignment to the other players in our squad.
On recruitment as a whole so far this close-season, the manager continued: “I am delighted with our progress so far in this summer transfer window. We have worked extremely well to recruit Jack Butland, Dujon Sterling, Kieran Dowell and Sam Lammers. We are ahead of schedule in our plans.

“The coming weeks will see more trading both in and out of the squad as we prepare for the season ahead. We have key areas of focus and we are close to securing our targets in those positions.”

Probably been said already, but so impressed with the approach Beale is taking. He's following the careers of these guys and identifying when they are available and willing to join Rangers. Some of these guys have and could have potentially been 9-10 mill players if not more (Cantwell was touted for a 40mill transfer).

It's about getting these guys back to, or close to, these levels and selling on. I think the first stage of that is looking good

No pressure big fella just make sure you get off to a good start by scoring a hat-trick against the yahoos and everything will be fine.

Welcome Sam! I really hope he will join the line of successful Dutch players at Rangers.

Beale has had time to plan his signings and so far the players he's brought in have been spot on. So I really believe he has a clear vision of how to be next Rangers manager to win things. Rather sooner than later.

Really can't say that I know anything aboot Lammers as a player but from the clips on the youtube seems to have nice selection of tricks and technique and active style of play. A bit toddcantwellish, and I like it.

He does four keepie uppies in that teaser. Better than being given credit for in the transfer thread already.
I watched a YouTube video of him last night and then a visual blatt hosted by some guy calling himself CJ. The scoring stats he quoted were below south of underwhelming to say the least.

However, in Cantwell, I have to believe we have a benchmark for the type of player MB is intent on bringing in and in the wee clips I saw of the guy he has bags of talent, so it's a wait and seee with this one.

This guys been looking to reignite his career for a few seasons, sometimes you just need the move to the right setup, lets hope he fits in well.

Welcome to the famous.

Like a lot of people, it's difficult to not look at his stats and feel slightly uneasy. But stats don't tell the whole story, and I'm happy to say im not an expert (doubt anyone who has watched a few YT clips could claim to be either). Beale has shown with his first two signings that he knows a player, and I'm confident that if he's been the driving force behind Lammers, he'll be a success for us.

I can imagine Beale talking these players to near death to get them signed, given his fondness for a blether. Lammers would appear to be one he's very high on, i know little of this guy so i'll put my faith in the manager, the peripheral noise around stats is fair enough but it's not an accurate predictor of how he'll get on at Ibrox.

Seeing mention of Laudrup reminds me of the summer he signed along with Basile Boli. We were happy to have him but he was coming off an unsuccessful spell in Italy while Boli had been a success at Marseille, it was the frenchman who was seen as the marquee signing and how wrong we were.

I heard David Bowie's estate have plans to re-release of his older songs
as a nod to Lammers joining us, and hope it gets played when he scores.
It's that one that goes:

"Awwwwwww....Wham, Lam, Thank You Sam"

I think it's called SufferTimShitty or something

The stats thing won’t be lost on Beale. He clearly sees other attributes in Lammers that he feels will link well with existing and proposed players within the framework he’s building.

You can see he has good touch and movement and it’s difficult not to believe he should score more goals in Scotland than he did in Italy.

Will he be a 20+ goals a season striker though?
I’m not so sure, but then I’m not sure that’s what Beale intends him to be anyway.

Good point

As he was with frankfurt last season he should be well aware of the atmosphere and passion that can be generated here.
Hopefully he wants to repeat another europa league run but with us this time.

Good to hear the new signings all buying into Beale’s vision. Hopefully Lammers finds his spark with us and rips up the league.

Watched the first day video on RTV and you see Beale taking him round the trophy room, theres a shot of the jersey we have on a mannequin and its Numans, nice touch!

willing to trade the wife for a flick through this Rangers Porn presentation that Beale uses on the new players.
