The old Rangers end at the Knew Camp

Has the pleasure of seeing a number of Rangers goals there, though never see us win there.

Always surprised that there was never a disaster there as it was a death trap due to overcrowding.

Well named the piggery, total sh’thole of a ground.

From my own experiences from the late 80’s early 90’s until the current dump was built

Officially 18k but probably nearer 20k as it was "pay at the gate" if you never had a ticket

Nothing better than winning at their shithole and the Bears blasting out The Billy Boys

It was the biggest shithole in the uk, I remember saying to my mate that it looked like one of the walls was a bit shaky.

On the way out parts of the wall had fallen down.

As a young boy from Bridgeton you hated that stadium but also loved to go and watch us there. That end was unbelievable but unbelievably scary way more than 20k in it also.

Used to go up and get a lift over in the 80s and we used to get beat a lot until Drinkell and Super and a missed Celtic penalty was bedlam and getting back to Bridgeton was always fun afterwards lol

Yup, SC v St Johnstone 0-0
Always remember asking a guy who had a radio the Liverpool score and getting a “%^*& knows but there’s a few dead”
I don't know why but that day was fucked up from the beginning. I got separated from my dad and didn't see him again until the supporters bus. What a fucking shithole

Remember leaving it at some point in the sixties. We'd won 4-2 , Bud scoring two. Don't know the area the buses were parked , but it was through a housing scheme and I think the buses were parked on a grassy area. Bottles and bricks reigned down on us from the tenements and houses. Bedlam

Some of the greatest days of my life following Rangers were going with my mates to that shithole, the walk down from Duke Street or sometimes from Brigton, the atmosphere was electric, never any bother with tickets or getting in either.

It's difficult to try and describe it to the younger Bears who never experienced it, the feeling when Rangers scored was like nothing else on the planet, an absolute explosion of joy.

I would give anything just to experience that feeling again.

I was fortunate enough to have experienced the bedlam in that end in amongst 20,000 bears when we scored
Just wondering other older bears thoughts are on it
Lost a scarf in there, the Rangers end was mobbed and i think it probably just got dragged off my neck.We won that day, think it was 3-1 early 70s

My first old firm game there was a reserve game in 1968 ( I was 11 ) when there was only 3 of us in our end.
The first team were playing them at Ibrox that day.
My first game there when it was the first team was a 4-3 Glasgow Cup tie ( wee Bud Johnston scored a hat trick ) in 1969
I have then been to many games there and can say it was the best experience ever.
A bag of nerves in the week leading up to the game
The hugging of perfect strangers standing next to you when we scored.
The euphoria of winning.
As the song says it was Simply The Best.

I absolutely loved going there and beating them in their own shithole was just fantastic. Took me until 1981 to see is win in their midden (the Alex Miller goal win).

Saw a good few wins after that though. And a few in their new meccano dump.

I could be wrong but I think the London Road end terrace only had a wall for pissing on
It did, the wall was the toilet.

Can't remember too many Bearette's in those days but those that were there would have witnessed thousands pissing on it:D

Must admit it was a great atmosphere in that end, always squashed getting in then then as you did it was arms aloft and Hallo, Hallo.
I've been in all 4 corners of that ground watching Rangers and even on 2 occassions ive been escorted out by Strathclydes finest. :D

First went there in 1977 as a 13yo. Remember the huge crush and being right up against the back wall hardly able to see anything. Think we drew 1-1. I remember all the buses being stuck in traffic going down a street and wee ned tims running out of closes and panning the bus windows in, then everyone piling out of the buses and chasing them into the closes. Absolute mayhem.

The best one though was when Alex Miller scored a last minute screamer for a 2-1 win. I think it was about 1980 or so.

The noise coming from there when we scored and then the mass of bodies jumping around. The sound had a delay on the tv getting over to that rat pit in the jungle where the cameras were.
A Piggery then and now.

August 1980, 2-1 to Rangers, Bett & Alex. Miller was my first visit there.
Always a great atmosphere especially with between 18,000 to 20,000 bears singing non-stop.
Also seen a 3-3, 3-2 to them, 4-2 to us. A few 0-0, 1-1 along the way

Sometimes we would stand under the jungle on the halfway line and they would be right next to us only the steps separated up.

I was there the season before, when we inexplicably threw the League away at the piggery.

The 3-3 game was fantastic mate
I’m sure most of the goals were in the first half an hour ?

In there as a 14 year old bear when we beat Aberdeen 6-0. SC semi final in 1969. Great atmosphere. A shithole then. A shithole now and a shithole forever.

Probably wildest memory when the polis tried to take a union flag off a guy (because it was on a cane) near the front bit of aggro started big surge towards the police thought it was going to kick off big time. Reminded me of my Dad telling me of the time the mounted police went into the Rangers end. Only time I never went on the supporters bus remember walking back into town getting to the Barras and the Rangers fans attacking a pub there then throwing anything they could get their hands on at their buses as they went through Glasgow Cross.

A have a few memories, one time I was standing with 4/5 pals and we scored, ffs we all ended up all over the place from the original position, it took me 10 mins to find my way back and my new trainers were ruined.

Another time was when the Piggery had small huts at the back of the terracing selling pies etc and the bears just smashed it up and stole all the pies and everything in the hut, childish I know but funny at the time.
