Strange goings on at a Primary school in Glasgow

work in education myself and I've never known students bring in their own football for P.E. so that could explain the "confiscation" because if you allow one child to bring their football in then you'll find yourself with a whole new bag of footballs the following lesson so I'd probably also take the additional football and store it in the cupboard too.

I've also never heard of a school using branded footballs or P.E. equipment & we have worked with professional clubs etc in the past but I'm not entirely sure how I'd approach that particular issue. The issue is the branded footballs but if the footballs were Rangers branded then I suspect it wouldn't be as much of an issue.

I do hope the OP takes it up with the school though because i want to know the outcome. :D

I would ask to speak to the head regarding an issue of inequality and then at meeting calmly ask what the policy is on equal rights etc and ask for a copy of the schools policy. They will sh!te themselves. Then explain why you wanted meeting and that it will probably be in breach of school policy explain calmly that you will now contact the education authority. You will get a result as im sure head doesn't know about pe teachers actions us the last thing any head will want is focus on their school. Its not being arsey its looking after your wean. My daughter was getting bullied and i approached school and was fobbed off with all excuses. Finally i told them i was going to head of local education authority as theyd had their chance to resolve it and failed...phone call within 10 minutes of my email...problem sorted. I dont care what the head or school think of me cos my wean is now happy going to school and no longer bullied. Apologies for length of post

FFS.......it's totally different man. This thread is bonkers. :D

Its no really. Its about ensuring your wean is happy at school and are treated fairly amd equally. If stuff like this is allowed to pass its just the start. So many folk think its just wee stuff and no worth the hassle but one day we'll end up in an independent socialist republic and folk will adk "how did that happen?"

You're going way over the score with hysteria mate.

why the big debate about it? Its obviously not right he takes away the Rangers ball but makes the kids use the scum ball as that in itself is blatant sectarianism!

The parents should just go to the school and make the complaint and tell them in a calm manner that its either both are used or no football related merchandise is used and if this practice continues he talks about the matter on social media and exposes the school as bigots.

Just to clarify about the Rangers ball. This wasn't for the P.E lesson, one of his wee pals brought it in to play with in the playground at playtime/lunchtime and was told by his teacher that he had to leave it in class as it wasn't allowed.

Needs to be nipped in the bud. Its bad enough that kids from decent stock are choosing to support them never mind being encouraged to. Wouldnt be at all surprised if it was funded by the unwashed themselves. Only kids from their schools should be supporting them.

Won't name it, but a mate has a young relative who attends a non-denominational school in Glasgow. The wee fella went to school one day all excited he was getting football in P.E/gym.

Came home sulking and told his mum and dad he didn't enjoy it because "the teacher made us use Celtic balls".

On further investigation the school did indeed provide a bag full of official Yahoo merchandise footballs for the kids to play with. After one wee guy allegedly having his own Rangers ball that he brought in confiscated.

The boys dad is wanting to contact the school to question it. His missus thinks he's overreacting and will look like a prick if he does.

Is this normal behaviour from the school or is something sinister going on?

Definitely contact the school. Also contact Rangers and ask for a bag of balls from them too.

Ffs!

Back in primary & high school Rangers and Celtic tops were banned during PE. Not sure if this is still the case in Glasgow?

Probably is. The Old Firm is just as toxic with 'yer deed' and '10 in a row' patter that da's engrave into their kids who'll probably end up thumped.

I know If this was tried at Stonelaw high school, the pupils would be having a competition to see who could blooter the most over the fence.

Give the wee man your permission.

Limestone avenue back gardens would resemble Omaha beach back in my day at stonelaw. :D

I mind every year when the new Rangers top came out, half the school had them on during English, nevermind PE.

That was in the days of school jumpers. Looks like everyone is wearing shirts and ties again.

No idea when you went but you wouldn’t have got near the place with rangers top on in my day despite more than half the teachers being good guys. Only vocal Celtic fan was Mr Stevenson who took English and was a great teacher.

That said 6th year free PE class that was a two hour game of 11s once a week was often “rangers tops v the rest” :D

Get it right round the cnuts and complain. Puerile behaviour from a profession which is supposed to be anything but. That's about the height of the class of the beasts from the East.

And three things:
- Ra sellick would have probably had this in the national news if it was us.
- To them they are just being a bunch of 'harmless craicsters' when in fact they should be promoting objectivity and non-bias.
- Their disease ridden mothers and fathers would be complaining if it was the other way around.

You’re not allowed football colours in school!

You’re not allowed to talk about Rangers and that lot in school!

I wouldnt have said anything if the Rangers ball wasnt confiscated, but the fact it was is pathetic.

Plus, it's hardly setting a decent standard using celtc balls considering their reputation regarding schoolkids...
That's the end all.
Removing the Rangers ball is the salt in the wound...
I would have been straight back down with ma wee boy!!

I think the guy at least needs to make is feelings known. Wasn't there a story this week about using gloves to handle Celtiic kits in a bantz style?
