It’s our first fixture of the festive month of December, as we head to Longridge on Saturday afternoon. The festive season starts up with a visit to the Community Ground and back to Burscough this weekend, as matters in the NWCFL resume. In fact, it is NWCFL action from here on in after our exit from the Macron Cup last weekend at Gigg Lane. The loss by a single goal to Charnock Richard directs foc...uptheshakers.co.uk
A home victory 2 - 0 is good for the Xmas spiritNext up is a home game on Boxing Day against near neighbours Prestwich Heys
A bit of a top of the table battle
Here are the match highlightsI was at Gigg today. Record crowd for that league 4833. Good 2-0 win very tough game though, Prestwich had a number of good chances second half especially. Probably a bit unlucky not to take something from the game.
%^*& em, up the Shakers!
Good too see all the goals, thanks.
Good luck tomorrow Graeme.Weather permitting, we have the luxury of a Saturday home game against Irlam
Not had many Saturday afternoon games for whatever reason.
A win would be welcome as it is tight at the top.
Match Info: Irlam FC (H), Sat 6th Jan, 3pm KO
With the weather seemingly calming down since Tuesday’s game fell victim to days of endless rain, we shift our focus to this coming Saturday and the visit of Irlam FC. After going through the whole of December unbeaten in the North West Counties Premier League, Dave McNabb’s charges have eighteen...uptheshakers.co.uk
Thanks Graeme was just going to check YouTube to see if they were out yet. Here are the highlights
Is this the same body who dished out the points deduction and ruled the game be replayed? It never rains but it pours when you are a Bury fan
The latest issue to hit us
Club Statement
Bury Football Club has been informed by Manchester FA that an independent committee has decided that due to the offensive comments made by two supporters during our game against West Didsbury and Chorlton in September, we should be forced to play our next two home games behind closed doors. No, this is Manchester FA who have decided to implement the 2 game behind closed doors punishment because of the bad behaviour of someone at our game.Is this the same body who dished out the points deduction and ruled the game be replayed?
Seems a bit harsh just for 2 guys who have been identified and banned and have still to go to court ( I think ).No, this is Manchester FA who have decided to implement the 2 game behind closed doors punishment because of the bad behaviour of someone at our game.
(Not noticed any other FA implement any such ban on any other team, but we are Bury)
The Points deduction came from the League because they said we had an ineligible player, although that was tenuous, but we are Bury.
The bad behaviour should not have happened but to blanket every fan with the punishment appears disproportionate
There is an appeal but we wont hold our breath
There are many examples of bad behaviour of other teams fans in every league, yet none have had to play behind closed doors
HI JimmySeems a bit harsh just for 2 guys who have been identified and banned and have still to go to court ( I think ).
I am beginning to think there is !!The decision for 2 games behind closed doors is shocking! Totally disproportionate - not to sound tin foil hat esque but is there a hidden agenda there?
We managed an away victory 6 - 0 todayHI Jimmy
If the FA apply this consistently there will be no supporters watching any game within a month
But what can we do
Back to today we are away at Litherland who have an average crowd of less than 200
Match Info: Litherland REMYCA (A), Sat 13th Jan, 3pm KO
The Shakers chalked up another three points this past Saturday in front of a bumper Gigg Lane crowd of 3304, putting on a sensational attacking display in the second half and putting Irlam to the sword to jump back to the top of the North West Counties Premier Division. Goals came from all three ...uptheshakers.co.uk
Listened to the game on RVR while watching the Rangers friendly so great result Graeme looking good at the top of the table although other teams have games in hand and also wish they would deduct the 3 points just now as I keep forgetting they have still to be taken off.We managed an away victory 6 - 0 today
I hope we go on to beat them all now
YesThe decision for 2 games behind closed doors is shocking! Totally disproportionate - not to sound tin foil hat esque but is there a hidden agenda there?
We managed an away victory 6 - 0 today
I hope we go on to beat them all now
I am beginning to think there is !!
The list is longer now
But you know what it is like when everyone appears to be against you
Hopefully another 3 points.Hope you have all recovered from a good Burns Night
It is anticipated that football might return on Saturday after several cancelled fixtures due to rain and frozen pitches
Bury are playing Skelmersdale Utd, who are really going through troubled times, but were the last team to beat Bury not that long back.
Match Info: Skelmersdale Utd (H), Sat 27th Jan, 3pm KO
January comes to a close (we can’t believe it either), and we hope beyond hope that we can get a game on in what has felt like too long! The Shakers last took to the field almost two weeks ago when we dispatched Litherland REMYCA (highlights below) and in doing so, keeping up with those at the to...uptheshakers.co.uk
Hopefully another 3 points.
Can you believe it was 10 (ten) - 1
Glad you got to see the game, what a result. Was at the game today. Played bottom of the league Skelmersdale. Scarcely believable that they actually beat Bury in the reverse fixture only a few weeks ago. Ridiculous turnaround.
Some nonsense with a section of the fans and stewards which won't do us any favours in the league considering we've been ordered to play a couple of games behind closed doors. A decision that's been suspended pending an appeal by the club. Mental that a situation like this has even arisen considering the level of football but there we are.
Fun game to watch though. Mainly because Skems defence were laughable.
Next up on Saturday
Match Info: Pilkington FC (A), Sat 3rd Feb, 3pm KO
In our last outing Dave McNabbs men put Skelmersdale United to the sword in an emphatic 10 – 1 victory. A result that is a new league record for The Shakers surpassing the 8 – 0 set against Huddersfield Town way back in January 1970. Goals for; Andy Briggs, Connor Comber, Andy Scarisbrick, Dec Da...uptheshakers.co.uk
Good results for Rangers and Bury today, both scoring 3 goals, both winning 3 points
Pilkington 2 - 3 Bury
Thanks Graeme.The highlights have arrived
Just seen the game is on so will be listening on RVR, I am going to be down in April for the Padiham game Graeme do you have plans to travel up for this?Great credit to the club for getting pitch covers and huge credit to the fans who layed them out and today swept off the water and snow and rolled them up again
Looking favourable that the game will go ahead now
And it seems Bury are Team of the Month
Match Info: Burscough (H), Sat 10th Feb, 3pm KO
We welcome Burscough for their first visit to Gigg Lane as we hope to resume matters in the NWCFL Premier Division this Saturday, 3pm kick-off. Our game on Tuesday night was called off owing to a water-logged pitch, so we will now play Ramsbottom later in the season. With 14 games to fit in betwe...uptheshakers.co.uk
