Official Ridvan Yilmaz signs on a five-year deal from Besiktas.

Net income is profit
No, it is not mate.

If we sell a player for £10 million gross, then pay £3 million in tax and £2 million in agent fees (just for ease of working), the Net income is £5 million. Nowhere at all does it involve what he cost to buy, if anything, years ago. The Turkish statement simply says 20% of the net transfer income so if taken at face value, it means explicitly 20% of the total transfer fee minus deductions.

Hopefully those deductions include whatever value the player has on the balance sheet but just simply taken at face value, their statement appears to be on the full fee.

Anyway, it is a small point and ultimately giving them 20% of either profit or the sale is clearly leaving us with 80% and that is a site better than 0%!

He is clearly a talent and we have done ever so well to get him in the door, so the fee thing is really a small issue that means not a huge amount, either now or in the future!

As I said, best bit of business in the window for me, regardless of % sell on fee.

That looks more Photoshopped than anything I've seen over the last week :)
Yeah it was probably taken in Turkey lol

Easy enough to do though.

Can make him appear at Ibrox

You are over thinking it.

We could see him and they havent achieved all of their add ons. So 20% is calculated on net profit of the deal from then.

Welcome to the best club in earth young man

Show us what you can do give your all and become a hero

Again, and for the last time because it really is not important enough to hark on about, their statement explicitly claims that they are due 20% of net transfer income. Net transfer income has zero correlation to any fee paid, any future fee or any potential fee. They explicitly claim they are due 20% of any cash that comes into the club for him, after tax and fees.

Ross Wilson currently submitting expenses claims for his Wagamamas in Glasgow and mobile phone bill whilst doing the deal to bring the sell on fee down :D

You can't really attribute tax to a single player sale because tax paid will be on total net income (so if we sell a player for £10m and buy a player for £10m net income is 0 and we don't pay tax, if we pay £15m we make a loss, also don't pay tax)

Presumably the sell on fee is simply calculated on net profit on the player purchase over and above fees paid, so if we buy a player for £10m and sell for £25m we pay 20% of £25m. If we sell for £8m we pay nothing in sell-on fees.

So excited to get these new players together and used to the system. I don't want to get ahead of myself but we're going to run a mock!

Ridvan Yilmaz signs on a five-year deal from Besiktas.

RANGERS Football Club are today delighted to announce the signing of Turkish international Ridvan Yilmaz on a five-year deal from Besiktas.

The left-back joins Gers for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance and the work permit process being concluded.

Yilmaz, 21 years old, has already been a league champion with Besiktas, and has gained top level experience in the UEFA Champions League.

A proud product of the youth system at Besiktas, Yilmaz has become a full part of the Turkish national team in the last year, having featured at each of their younger international age group squads.

After impressing in international friendly matches, he was named in the squad for last summer’s UEFA European Championships, and has since won 6 full international caps.

A modern, attacking full-back, Rangers supporters can look forward to seeing Yilmaz further strengthen Gio van Bronckhorst’s first team squad.

Speaking after agreeing to join Rangers today, Yilmaz commented: “I am delighted to be joining a club the size of Rangers and am really looking forward to meeting my new teammates.

“This is a club who have shown they can compete against some of the best teams in Europe, and I am really excited by the challenges we have ahead of us.

“I have heard so much too about the Rangers supporters and I cannot wait to play in front of them for the first time.”

Manager van Bronckhorst continued: “I am really pleased to have added Ridvan to our squad and I believe he will bring a lot of quality to the club.

“I have been really impressed with his development in a really demanding, winning environment at Besiktas over the last few seasons.

“I am looking forward to welcoming him to training in the coming days and to seeing him in action for the first time.

Sporting Director, Ross Wilson, added: “Gio and I were clear in our desire to invest in a high potential and high quality left back. We have now secured that in the signing of Ridvan Yilmaz. He’s a talented young player who has been coveted throughout Europe following outstanding performances for Besiktas. We also know how highly regarded he is in the Turkish National Team. This is another exciting young player to join our squad, and we are delighted to bring Ridvan to Rangers.”
Really excited about this player , Fantastic Rangers .

Excellent signing on paper

See Besiktas have stated £3.4m upfront with a possible £1.9m in add ons. 20% of future net transfer too.

Seems a decent deal for the talent

Could you not take this shite somewhere else and let the rest of us enjoy the signing of a cracking looking prospect,
I know mate, imagine 2 people discussing a transfer deal, on a thread about a transfer deal, on a discussion board designed for people to talk about things! How fucking dare they!!!!!!!

FAR, far better to have 4 pages of YASSSSSSSSS than anyone talking about the actual deal the thread is about.

How about %^*& off eh? Plenty of blogs on it you can read if seeing discussion upsets you so much. A forum is probably not for you...

Just watched two "skills" videos of him on Youtube.

The first one had me terrified, all it showed was a wee guy with decent anticipation but who was constantly getting bullied and falling down in the tackle or giving the ball away with some eye-wateringly poor passing.

The second one looks more like it. Looks alot like David Robertson from a distance in terms of his movement and crossing.

From what I've seen though I'd say there's no guarantee he'll have Borna's jersey this season. Hopefully the competition brings the best out of both.

“Gio and I were clear in our desire to invest in a high potential and high quality left back”
Curtains for Borna then?

Excellent piece of business.
Glad it's a 5 year deal, sick of us buying players then having to negotiate a new contract a couple of years later.
Brilliant.

It's been absolutely done to death on the transfer thread. Boring as f uck.

Superb capture by the club, no more no less. Expecting big things from this boy, though like every new player he'll need a bit of time to settle into the game up here. Good times

From what I can see he’s played about 70/75 mins of pre-season minutes.

Hopefully we have another behind closed doors game lined up for him and can get him off the bench on Saturday too.

We have a direct statement from the selling club detailing their claims, none of that was in the other thread at all.

You finding it boring is your problem, you are not admin and you do not dictate what people can and cant talk about on a discussion board.

If you think that the selling club should release a statement and we just completely ignore it, it really is pointless you being here, you would be FAR better served reading a blog and not looking at the comments. Bore off.
